Quick message to everyone;
Its come to the attention of some staff that there are senior members of the board that have been contacting new players, and either posing as staff or offering to help them create characters.
We must insist that this is not acceptable and should not be done.
Being friendly and welcoming new players is a great way to grow our board. We as staff endorse the idea of diplomacy, goodwill and comradery. Its very important to us that all new members feel welcome and invited to join in the fun.
But there are staff members for a reason and we ask other players to respect our job on the board by not making it harder.
Staff members are the only people that are qualified to help create new member characters, so that they conform to the laws of the board, and insure that new characters flow with the others.
This also is in an attempt to stop players from creating "sub worlds" and "god moding". Sub worlds, though seemly fun to those who create them, are not productive to the board and in fact can create clicks. This in turn can create divisions in the players/characters, and a host of other issues, something we most definitely want to avoid.
If, after creating and posting with a first character, a member would like to contact the new member and talk to them about creating a character connected to your own. We ask that you contact us (staff) first and discuss your idea with us. Yes, I know...some of you are thinking what a pain in the ass that is. But it really is necessary to insure that new players are getting a chance to play characters they want before being coerced into characters that they may not. Again, this should not stop players from contacting new members and welcoming them, but thats where it should end.
And now the real warning.
The staff here have been feeling like when reprimands have been issued to players that we get a “Ya, sure, whatever.” attitude.
Though we're not in the business of being tyrants, we are how ever here to maintain the true essence of the board and ensure that people are not simply running around doing as they please.
Players who are given warning against their actions and do no comply will be met with more severe punishments (system to come).
I will not outline the system here, as it is still in progress, but rest assure the players will be notified by PM when it is. Let me also point out that just because the system is still in the works that it won't be used if need be.
Alright... So there you have it.
Thanks for your time!
