Hey Everyone;
This is a quick PM to remind people to stay in character and setting as well as a bit on cost and costs for estates.
Proper language and realism to the time that the board is set in, is important. I'll be posting it some where (probably the news fader) the time of year and any tips/reminders about the weather and such. As well as updating the list of Terms and Words found in the New Player's board.
Try to remember that board time is not the same as real time (which pretty much everyone has been awesome with).
If you're wanting to use a concept that you're not sure about and whether it is suitable for the board, please ask a mod or manager. We can always adjust and compromise concepts so that your situation gets the point across.
I know that most people don't always have time to go about the internet and research concepts, some people enjoy it, but its not necessary. But keeping to the board's theme is still important. Just to give everyone an idea of time we're looking at, if translated into our chronological calander, about 300-500 AD (after Elua's time on Earth).
I know this can be hard for people to remember considering that this is 2007 and we don't have a really great concept of what it was like back then. But in the interest of, again, maintaining the theme and realism of the board for all involved, lets all give it our best!
Money's Worth
Ok, money...
Money has to be worked for, please remember to that your characters have real jobs and for some, estate's to run. This may be a fantasy game but it seems so pointless to just ignore reality.
Ducats:
There are 3 classes of ducats-
Copper Ducats -Would probably be used to tip servants, bar matrons, stable boys, ect.
Silver Ducats -Proabably giving as patron gifts and more likely to be carried around by peers.
100 copper ducats = 1 silver ducat
Gold Ducats -Not carried in excess except by high ranking nobles and the like.
100 silver ducats=1 gold ducat
-Nobles with titles and high ranking (Duc/hesse, Comte/sse) will be worth 30,000- 50,000 gold ducats per year depending on their own title (sovereigns will of course rank higher).
-Peers with lesser ranks (Marquis/e, Vicomte/sse) are looking at 8,000- 25,000 gold ducats per year, again depending on the title and worth.
-Peers with no title but perhaps a business will be making 2,000-6,000 gold ducats per year.
-Adepts should never make more then 300-1,500 gold ducats per year unless the adept has given leave by a staff member to make more.
Adepts with their own salons will be considered peers and there for can make more then a regular adept, but unless they are properly titled they should not make any more.
Please address any questions about a characters worth to a Manager or Staff member before simply and arbitrarily deciding how much they make or are worth.
Baring that in mind, this is also a reminder to beware of taking liberties with your characters, their positions as well as worth/cost. A hard task yes and something quite vague for the most part, this is also a self monitoring task but is important for everyone. If you aren't sure about something, again, its better to ask first before posting. There are 5 of us to help out with concerns or questions that you may have.
So hopefully that has addressed any questions that people may have been holding onto .
Happy Posting!
