Periodically, it becomes time to send out a message about a few board related issues. This one concerns god moding, family dynamics, and signature lines.
As we all know, our posts are written and characters played in the first person. As such that means we only get to control our own characters. As difficult as this may be sometimes, we must remember that this is how it is for everyone. Do not write the actions, emotions, or thoughts of another player's characters unless you have their express consent beforehand. I know how frustrating it can be when you think things are heading one way and then suddenly the character you are rping with does the unexpected, but that's actually part of the fun. It keeps the board interesting. If anyone is rping with another character and that character's player is god moding (controlling the words/actions/emotions of characters not their own and/or reading the minds of other characters), please inform one of the mods or managers.
The board is seeing the growth and development of several nuclear families. This is a very good thing, but it can also cause some issues because most of the families are comprised of different players. All players must remember that they are not allowed to make unilateral decisions that affect the entire family. If there is a storyline or plot that you want to pursue, discuss it first with the other members of the family. If there is a disagreement that can not be resolved, take the issue to one of the managers. That's what we're here for, to help with these types of situations. If a player is making unilateral decisions for a family, bring this to the attention of the managers or mods.
Lastly, signature lines. A lot of effort has gone into creating a board atmosphere that is attractive and yet still allows for the expression of individuality. However, there comes a point when things become disruptive to the flow of threads. We have never made rules as to what can be included in a signature line, but we do ask that the content not be so distracting as to outshine the rp going on around it. So please, try and keep the colors/images/length of the signature lines at a reasonable size.
Thank you all very much for you time, and happy posting!
