I followed his lead with ease, and wasn't worried about my toes. "Your marques tells me you know how to move those feet, and my marque tells you I can avoid them if need be," I replied, enjoying the banter. "Though I might like you carrying me away. Perhaps I'll feign an injury," I offered with a grin.

I flashed her a grin. "Give me someone trying to cleave my head from my shoulders and I'm as nimble as a stag, bug give me a dance floor..." My voice trailed off and I twirled her out, then brought her back in a little closer than before. "You make it easier to dance with, though. Very talented."

I laughed at his jest as he spun me away and back, then smiled at our closer proximity. "Thank you, though I have yet to meet a musician who couldn't move their feet in time."

I grinned. "I think I might have to see if I can persuade you to sing later. Is there any songs you enjoy in particular?"

"I have a fairly eclectic interest, though I do have a large repertoire of Alban and Jebean music, compared to my counterparts." I replied, then grinned. "For obvious reasons."

I smiled as we danced, though I had to concentrate a little on keeping my feet from squashing hers. "I can't understand why that is," I said, grinning. "You look very Ch'n to me."

I laughed. "I've had a lot of guesses before, but never Ch'n," I said, finding I quite liked the grin spread across his tattooed features.

"Well, one of the things they teach you in the army is to analyze everything. I'd say they didn't notice because they lack a keen eye." My voice reflected a jesting smugness, though when it were through I grinned. "Have you ever performed here before?"

I shook my head. "I might in a few months, but they like to hire those who have completed their marques, and I just had mine finished." I looked about as we went around the floor. "I'd like to though, I like the atmosphere here." Not to mention it was that much more for my savings.

"Good," I said. "Mayhap then I'll come and see you." I spun her out and back into me again, my smile charming before fading into one more relaxed.

"I always need an audience," I replied with a wide smile. "I shall send you word, should they invite me to perform."

"I'll come if able," I replied, smiling back at her. The song showed signs of slowing; I was no musician. I couldn't quite tell if it were coming to a close or simply shifting into something slower and softer.

"Wonderful," I replied with a smile. The song changed smoothly - this band was good - and I looked to Decimus. "Shall we dance another, or retreat back to our table, now that you've indulged me?"

"I haven't stepped on your toes yet," I said, feigning a proud smile. "If you'd like to stay out for another dance, I'm open to it." My hand spread a little on her back, though I didn't pressure her either way; I was happy enough here, and I'd be happy enough there.

"Such a gentleman. I'll have to take you up on that," I replied with a smile. This dance was slower, a bit more intimate. "So what do you do for amusement Decimus?"

I smiled with her compliment, but it was more for the smile on her own face than the words. I shifted to a slower step, careful not to catch her toes in the process, and responded with a quieter, more personal voice. "I ride," I said simply, though enjoyably. "As much as I can, anyway, or I spar, train. I admit, though, that it's harder to find sparring partners in the City than it was back in Alba. You lot are much to civilized for me." I grinned at her as my voice turned teasing, playing back on the age-old assumptions on Albans.

I shook my head with a laugh. "I don't believe that for a second. What do you like to use, when sparring?"

"Swords, mainly," I responded smoothly as we continued to dance. "Have you ever done it before?"

"It was offered, but at the time I was much too involved in my studies to come up for air, much less take on something new." I replied as we moved with increasing grace across the dance floor. "Someone showed me once how to grip a sword, but that's all I know."

"Tis the first step in learning," I responded, smiling at her. "Do you have any interests other than singing and picking up poor old Alban soldiers?" I teased her lightly, though in truth I was grateful for her ocmpany.

"Well to start with, I don't only sing." I teased back with a grin. "I'm quite interested in foreign cultures, and learning them through language and song. And soon enough through experience."

"Oh, really?" I asked, enjoying the challenge associated with her choice of words. "Just take care which foreign cultures you choose to partake personally in. Some aren't as pleasant as others." I smiled, my hand spreading out on her back a little more. Her curves felt rather nice, and I just barely resisted the urge to pull her against me more. "

I hadn't meant any innuendo with my words, I had been referring to my planned travels. But I wasn't about to complain at the spark in his grin. "Any advice for a young woman?" I asked, meeting his eyes with a teasing smile.

"Don't agree to go home with anyone you don't know," I said in a slightly admonishing tone, mimicking how my own mother had spoken to my sister with a large, wide grin. "Take a guard, if you can, or a friend."

He pulled me closer, and my smile spread, taking on a sensuous hue. "If you insist. Though I warn you, I might start calling you Papa," I continued to tease.

Her pretty face changed a little; I couldn't explain just how so, but it made me enjoy her even more than before. "Deci's fine," I said with a smile, my hand spreading on her back a little.

"Deci," I repeated with that same smile. "So, returning to your earlier point, how well should I know someone before I go home with them?"

"Oh, at least six months," I said teasingly, "unless he's rugged, handsome, tattooed with a woad and hasn't stepped on your toes while dancing."
