I looked around the room for a moment then spied a side table, set for two, and with good view of the stage and whispered, "Follow me," and headed over to the table, following the wall as to not get in anyone sight should the start before we were seated.
Holding out Geraldine's seat I waited for her to get settled and pushed her chair in before seating myself opposite her and letting the waitress hand us our menu's.
I nodded my thanks and gave a quick glance to the wine's they had available, "Is there one that's your favorite, Geraldine?" I asked her, and since I already knew which would be my favorite I wanted to know what she liked.

I followed Navarre quietly, smiling happily, and noted once again his perfect manners. He made me feel like a lady, Navarre... not unlike Eddie, I thought to myself a moment, though they were radically different characters, really.
"There is a pink wine from home," I said, "from Marsilikos. I don't know if they keep it here, but it is lovely - light and flowery, with a touch of lavender... it's completely perfect for the afternoon."
I looked at the menu, scanning quickly to see if it were there, but it was not. "Oh, it musn't be available here," I pouted. "What is yours, tell me?"

I grinned, that was easy enough, "I'm very fond of the Syrah from Azzalle, the Magny Vintage in particular, actually. However for this occasion I'd say the Gran Spumante Champagne. It's light, fruity and sweet, just like you." I added, nodding to the waitress to bring us a bottle and watched Geraldine for a moment before I looked back to my menu.
I knew the delicate freshness of this particular sparkling wine, the inviting aromas reminiscent of ripe peaches and apricots combined to form a delightfully complex bouquet. In a word it was perfection and it always made the perfect aperitif with it's refreshing melon flavors and a crisp, clean finish.
It was also a little spendy but I was certain I could afford a splurge at the moment and besides, we were out to enjoy the afternoon so why not.

"Champagne?" I looked at Navarre with an amused grin. "I've never had it outside of Fetes," I told him, looking at him with affection. Gods but he was charming as ever - I'd thought he was treating me like a lady, now he was treating me like a princess. "You don't have to, Navarre, it's so expensive...." I gave a little look of concern, and looked at him teasingly through my lashes, "If I didn't know better, I'd think you are trying to seduce me, Navarre." But to lighten my tease, I gave a light laugh, and a pleasant grin.
In truth, I hadn't forgotten his kiss. But I had no idea what to do with that memory.

I grinned, I wasn't opposed to flirting, especially when the company was so lovely and after I had talked with her that afternoon when we first met I had warmed to her even more. "It is a special occasion, after all," I told her, I'd wanted to keep it a secret for a bit longer but I couldn't anymore. "Today is my Natale, I'm nineteen as of this afternoon," I said, sitting up a little straighter.

I almost kissed him, gave him a hug, then and there. The movement started, and I froze in mid-drift, and sat back. I remembered the clothier - Navarre didn't like to be cluttered.
"Oh, congratulations, Navarre," I said, smiling wide. "I wish you'd told me sooner, I would have brought you a gift, or something...." I looked at him with sincere care. "Is there anything that you would like? It's not fitting, really, to celebrate without a little present, even symbolic..."

I shrugged, "I'm not really one for birthday celebrations, other than what our House gives us, but I could make an exception in your case," I said, giving her a wink, "I'm sure just enjoying your presence this afternoon will be gift enough," I told her, "But if you insist, I could think of something."

"It's too easy," I replied with a girlish grin, "if my presence is enough. I insist, please, do think of something," I concluded with a mock demanding tone, but my eyes were a caress, and my smile a song.
I suddenly wondered what celebrations went on at Mandrake - and saved it for later.

"Alright then, we can do a little shopping after the show. Let's just enjoy this for the moment." I said, the waitress reappearing with the champange and a tray of small cakes, a selection of fruits and a bowl of hot dipping choclate to entertain us until our meal arrived.
"Were you ready to order?" She asked, and I nodded, indicating for Geraldine to order first.

I looked at the tray, and then at Navarre. "That's a lot of food already," I observed, feeling like laughing about it somewhat. Very amused, I ordered a salad, but I gave Navarre a bashful smile, and whispered confidentially, "I have a sweet tooth, but I need to stay sensible...."

"That's alright, you don't have to eat it all," I commented, "There is two of us here," I grinned, I could probably eat untill sundown and still be hungry an hour later. I selected the rich, thyme roasted Duck Breast sauteed in sweet butter and served with a wild mushroom, onion and caper compote.
Handing over the menu I grabbed a starfruit and dipped it in the chocolate, biting into the sweet flavors and giving Geraldine a pleasant smile. "Now this is delicious," I said, finishing the fruit and sipping from my glass.

"Right, try to let me at least taste them, birthday-boy," I said with an amused grin. I took a strawberry and put it through my lips with relish - it was fresh and just a little sweet, and perfectly delicious.
I quietly enjoyed the strawberry, and picked up the programme. "Oh, it's the Eisandine cycle," I said with a smile. "A friend of mine saw it, he said he really enjoyed it."
And I picked my glass, and held it out, "Well, Navarre, what am I drinking to?"

Her company was beginning to grow on me, I knew it but didn't care what others may think, she was wonderful. I nodded, pleased to hear I actually knew what we were about to see.
Taking up my glass I raised it to hers, "To the passing year and the year to come; may the memories we have made never be forgotten and to those we have yet to make, may they be just as enduring. Also," I said, pausing for effect, "To the lessons we learn and to the friends we make; may each of them guide us well in the coming years." I added, touching her glass with mine before setting it to my lips, a grin crossing my face as I sipped at my champagne.

I grinned wide to his toast, nodding as I listened. It was a wonderful toast, but it was very long, and so before I drank, I said simply, "Aye!" and grinned wider. As his glass touched mine, I let my eyes seep in his own blue gaze for a fleeting instant, letting my sincere affection ooze out. I liked Navarre - there was no reason not to let him know that.
I took as sip of champagne, letting the pleasure of it flow through me, and smiled softly as I set down my glass. "That was a lovely toast, Navarre. I didn't know you had such talent for oration. You are full of surprises, my dear," I told him affectionately.

I merely shrugged at her compliment, taking it in stride. "I don't often get to practice things like that, that was a bit rusty, but it wasn't bad." I said, sipping at my drink and looking at her through the bubbles. The color of the wine turning all I saw to shades of ambers and golds, not a bad sight if you were looking at the right person.
Setting my drink back down I selected a strawberry and bit into it, the flavors of wine mingling pleasantly with the sweet fruit. Giving her a grin I set the stem aside, "I'm not overly fond of surprises but I seem to be good at giving them. I suppose it's a specialty of mine," I said, picking up a section of kiwi and eying it.

"We all have our own way about things," I replied with a wide smile. I took a sip of wine, and set it on the table, taking instead a strawberry. I would enjoy it slowly, langourously, though if there was tease in my actions, it was merely adept's training coming to play.
"I like surprises," I added after I'd delighted myself with the fruit. "And I'm sure some surprises do indeed please you..." I offered, grinning teasingly. It was a fine line, to thread with Navarre... yet, it was also a lovely, amusing game. For all his cageyness, I trusted him, because he had trusted me before.
