The package was delivered by Adam, and unless I'd missed my guess, he had likely dropped it off with an irreverent bow and an outstretched hand, expecting a lofty tip. I also would have bet that if the tip was inexistent or too little, he would have mumbled a curse before he left. Such was Adam.
The package contained Fete attire, fit for a Prince. Pieter had not declined his station, but I wanted him to look as regal as possible, to spite Adin, Seraph, that awful kid in the shop, and anyone else who thought I wasn't good enough. Also, I was hoping that Eddie would see me, and see the color I had picked. It made me think of him.
Besides, Pieter was a sweet man, and he deserved only the best. And so Anna McDermott had spent a few nights working on his attire, and I knew it would be sublime.
Chocolate brown breeches that recalled my gown, and a shirt of blue that matched Pete's eyes, along with a jacket in a matching shade that was embroidered in a darker shade of blue in dreamlike swirls. I had mentioned that my patron was Illyrian, and Anna had taken great care to choose patterns that were reminiscent of the patterns of his birthplace.
I'd enclosed the bill, not as expensive as one would expect, but a fair price, and a small note.
My dear Patron,
I have prepared for you the very best one could find, and hope that you are satisfied with the enclosed.
Hopefully my eye for volumes will prove its worth, and all will fit your exquisite shape perfectly.
Until the Fete, and all that ensues,
Your chosen adept,
Shona

I was working at my desk when the package arrived. I shooed off the servants and received it myself. The man who carried it was clearly waiting for a tip and I responded by tossing him one of the small bags I kept in a drawer for just such occasions. I tended to be a big tipper as it made friends and in my line of work I needed friends. The fellow seemed pleased enough and departed. I soon looked over the outfit Shona had selected and found it pleasing. Trying it on I also found it fit she must have guessed well on my measurements. There was also the bill for the clothes which I promptly dispatched a man to pay with another tip as I was starting to appreciate the value of royal blood and a healthy bank account. Then there was the note from Shona. I read and then penned a reply in my own smoothly flowing hand. Some even had been known to say I wrote like a woman.
Shona,
Thank you very much for your aid. I shall be eternally indebted to you for it. I shall send a carriage to your House to pick you up on the night in question. And if any of your associates should need a ride feel free to have them ride along.
Pièter Kolcei, Prince of Illyria
I signed the small note and sealed it without a second thought. Gods of the Deep know I have been dealing with such correspondence all my life and I tended to give them little if any thought. And I felt as if a massive burden had been lifted from my back.

Gods, he was a prince ! My heart skipped a little at the thought, and I blessed my spite for making me go the extra mile. Deftly, I penned a note back, thanking him for his kindness a second time.
Your Highness,
I am relieved that you have found the outfit appropriate, more so now that you have confessed to your true nature.
I promised not to let it change my interaction with you, unless you require of me more formality.
Your carriage will find me ready and fit for the occasion, but alone. My associates have chosen to give you full intimacy with your chosen adept, a delicate attention for which I am grateful.
With increased admiration,
Shona

I read the note when the servant brought it and sighed. I had just singed the title I had signed all my life without thinking much on it. I started to send a reply then decided not to. When the carriage brought Shona to my door we would discuss how I was really not much on formality at this point and how what I was in Illyria meant nothing here.
