My Beloved,
I find my self lazy, and would much prefer to be drowning in your eyes rather than penning a note, but this seemed more expedient, and I am on a roll of writing.
A friend of mine is hosting a small fete, and I can’t imagine not inviting you to join me. He is of a sort different than mayhap you are accustomed to, but loyal and good.
We never did talk of it, so I do not know if you have been invited to the L’Envers Wedding or not. I, on the other hand, have been left out, and so I will be attending the Vicomte de Fournier’s fete, hoping to have you at my side.
If you find your self committed to task, or mayhap attending the wedding, I won’t hold it against you, but will instead miss you until my need to see you again is sated, and take pity on you a little - I am indeed not one for such things.
Yours, in all good honest truth, and loving you always,
Julie

Julie,
I am in fact attending the L’Envers Wedding. I would much rather be at your side but such appearances as the one I am making are important to my career less I find myself stuck at some good forsaken post the rest of my days. Though I do plan on livening the event up a bit, well as much as I can without being asked to leave. Such chatter can also aid one’s career and if I do it properly the gossip mill will be turning. So I ask of you to inquire of me when you hear rumors. With some luck the rumors shall be at least twice as large as the reality of the situation.
Love Gadleon

His reply left me wondering, and it sat on my nightstand for a whole day, until I found it in me to write back a note that was sincere and true.
Gadleon,
Your letter did leave me sceptical, but I have given you my heart and will not take it back. For this, you have my trust, but I will beg you not to cause me humiliation, to me or my House's name, not matter what mad plot you have cooked up in that handsome head of yours.
I will do my very best to avoid any rumors, and if they do reach me, I will seek in the trust I have given you the strength to hear you out before my mind is made.
Missing you,
Your Julie

My response was simply a single long steam rose delivered to her door.

Nicole came to see me, a quizzical look on her face, and holding a beautiful rose.
Her comment, "I think it's from that scary man of yours, Julie," summoned a happy laughter as she handed me the rose. I took it, smelling its sweet perfume, and promised myself once again to hear him out if and when the time came.
This was the very first time someone gave me a flower, and it summoned a swaying moment of tender emotion. Faith is a beautiful thing.
