I was lucky to have found an adept that was able to fit my commission for a gown for Longest Night in to her already busy schedule without too much more of an expense for coming in at the last minute. I didn't want to wear any of my other gowns this night nor did I want anything altered just for the occasion.
I found a beautiful soft black fabric to make the gown from and let the girl do her magic. Gemma was a wonderfully gifted, if not well known Eglantine adept and I had heard of her from a friend of mine. She was quick and skilled with her measurements and let me know that she would have my gown ready in time for the FĂȘte.
I was thrilled, and very pleased to have her help, I told myself that I had to tell my friend thank you for recommending her when I got the chance.
Right on schedule my gown arrived. I was so busy though that I didn't get a moment to look at it before the fĂȘte but oh when I dressed for that night I was ever so in love with the gown I stood there staring at my reflection just staring for a few minutes as my maid fastened the gown.
A full skirt of gathered fabric flowed from the tight, ribbon laced bodice and low cut neck of the gown and it sparkled with silver threads that were a part of the fabric's design. I smiled at my reflection and played with the long, black see-through material of the sleeves.
Fit to attend a coronation ball or the like I smiled, letting my maid finish with my hair before swirling a soft mink wrap around my shoulders and heading out to meet my carriage.
