Dearest Siegfried,
As I told you before, and still hold to be true, you would not be the man who haunts my dreams and waking thoughts if you put seeing me before your profession. Your passion for, and love of, your work shines in you like the sun and I would never ask you to put me above that.
Pick me up at sunset set if we are to head straight for the fete, or you are more than welcome to come earlier so we can visit first.
Thinking of you always, Raegan

When I came in that morning, long hours of nightly labor engraved in my bones, Joelle handed me cheerfully another envelloped. The familiar handwriting and the sweet perfume of it hit my heart violently. How I missed her!Reagan had me bewitched, and I would not resist her much longer. My expression impassible, I made for the study, and, my weariness somehow gone, I penned another note, to which I attached a small brooch which my mother, being the smart woman that she was, had thought fit to give me, thinking I should perhaps give it to Raegan, should my love for her be consequential enough. The brooch had been in the family for generations, passed on from the first Baron to his first-born son, who in turn gave it to the woman he intended to wed, and thus the brooch passed on, from generation to generation. I would not propose to her just yet. But in my heart, the powerful conviction that I would, and that she would say yes, was germinating, and I felt compelled to take the leap of faith. Besides, it would be her, or no other. So I included the precious brooch, a small thing of silver in the shape of a thistle, with a sparkling amethyst in its center, and sent off my heart to Rae.

Sweet Siegfried, I will have you whenever you desire to see me, be it hours or days before that sunset.
Words have never been a friend to me, and so I find myself desperately without them in this time of need. I have no way to explain to you how much I love the brooch. Perhaps you knowing that I have no plans of ever taking it off will come close.
Longing to see you again,
Raegan

Rae’s letter had brought heat to my cheeks, and I was thankful I was alone in my study to relish her exquisite words. Naught took me to leave it all to the side, but being a man of my word, I would deliver this ointment to Valerian house before the coronation, as it was expected many adepts would require it.
The order had come in late, and I was pulling long hours since my return from Camlach, and my new resolve.
I set aside a moment, and penned a note.
