"Whatever you prefer," I said, lowering the mug from my mouth. "If you want a dress, I will show you to Eglantine House, or to the clothiers district in Mont Nuit. Both are respectable, and will do a fair job." My anger still burned, though I attempted to squalch it completely, not wanting to upset either her or myself. Besides, while the initial burst of temper made me forget my hangover, it came back twice as bad now that my anger had receeded. Oh well. Again, pennance. I deserved it well enough, as much as it galled me to admit it.
"Were you planning on attending the celebration, then?"

"I don't know, should I?" I smiled a wry grin and looked at Kendrick from under my mug "Or do you fear utter and total humiliation? I'd do my best to fit in, but I can't give you warrantees."
Stretching my foot towards him, I chuckled and nudged his leg a little. "Oh, loosen up, Kendrick."

With a quick snap of my foot as she nudged mine, I caught hers below my heel, squishing it. "I am light, Sparrow. And besides, if you want to go feel free to. I'll just tell everyone you're my cousin, and bound to be a court jester one day."
Grinning heartily as my anger fled, I let her foot go and stepped back, attempting to stay out of range of anything else she might deal out.

He did hurt my foot but I swallowed it, as I should. Tiger and Sparrow always fought this way. I reclined in my chair and let out a serene sigh. I'd missed him.
I looked at him from under my eyes and started singing on kid's rhymes, "My brother loves me. He wants me to stay. My brother loves me. He wants me to stay." I sung it softly, under my breath at first, and allowed it to well up into a loud, obnoxious childish rhyme, and I grinned as I sang it, knowing some thing would come at me for it.

Again I grunted at her, then broke off a piece of the bread and threw it at her. "You're such a pain in the rear, Julie." Grinning, I threw a second one for good measure. "That'll never change."

I caught the pieces of bread and bit off a chunk of it. "And why should it? The sky is blue and noone complains. I'm a pain and no-one complains either." I sermonned seriously, then broke into a mischevous smile. "You complain, and no-one complains," I added right before I started chewing heartily on the bread.

Narrowing an eye at her, I tossed the rest of the loaf at her head. "Eat that while you're at it. You're too skinny along with being a pain in the rear."
Gathering my mug I turned, then glanced back. "I'd suggest getting out to either Eglantine or the Clothiers district today - wait much longer and they might not be able to supply you with a dress before the celebration."

"Ready when you are," I chuckled as I broke off another piece of bread.

Inwardly I winced, thinking of a jolting carriage ride with my head pounding as it was. Still, if she wanted me to go along I would, and would not offer complaint. "Lets go, then." Making my way indoors, I headed to my room to retrieve a lightweight coat, then went downstairs again to stand by the door in wait.

I quickly ran upstairs to get my coat, and struggled to get my hair in a braid, cursing at myself that I hadn't before.
My hat was too dusty for the trip, so I left it behind, and after I'd strapped on my boots, I showed up at the gate wearing the tan breeches, a white shirt, and a brown jacket.

I'd called for a carriage as I had waited, and as it pulled up I held my hand without thinking, aiding her into the carriage before climbing in myself. "Eglantine or the clothiers district?" I asked. "I know the clothiers district will have premade things to wear that can be altered to fit you; I'm not sure about Eglantine. If you want something done up from scratch, though, either place will work."

I shrugged. "Your town, you decide. I have no idea what to expect anyway," I said a bit gloomily. I looked at my hands on my lap for a moment and smiled bravely. "What ever you see fit, Kendrick."

"The clothiers district," I said, calling it out to the driver. As the carriage lurched forward, I winced though kept it from my voice. "What are you so gloomy for? The prospect of inviting the attention of countless suitors who are astonished at the sight of you in a pretty dress, or the fact that you must actually play the role Nature has bestowed on you?" Grinning, I sat back, looping both my arms over the backs of the carriage seats.

"I was gloomy for neither, but now that you mention it, it's something to be gloomy about, the way you put it." I said, emphasizing the word "gloomy" in a comical way.
I looked out the carriage at the busy streets I'd found so enticing the day before. Now, they scared me. In truth, I was getting ready to mourn my old life. I'd only had one suitor so far in my life, and he didn't need a pretty dress to like me. That was all I needed, really. I sighed.
