The touch of her leg was encouragement as well as her reply and I smiled rakishly. "Oh, of course," I replied, touching her leg with my own again as I reclined back on the chaise, drawing her with me slightly as I took a drink of the port. "Fifteen year old port?" I asked.

He reclined back and I turned so that my arm was resting against the back of the chaise and I faced him. "Eighteen." I replied with a smile. "My father had it laid down."

"Good taste, he had," I told her with a raised brow as I looked up into her face unabashedly, still finding it surpassingly lovely to gaze upon. "Does that mean I should recognize this dress from a time when I may have been closer to it but not paying terribly much attention?"

"You mean, my dress doesn't rivet your attention immediately?" I teased him softly. I doubted he had ever seen the gown. It was an old favourite, but it was hardly that old.

"Only when the person in it is boring," I told her slyly, cocking my head sideways and raising a brow. "Though on someone I found so it would probably be lovely."

"Then I shall take it as a compliment." I replied with an amused smile. I took a sip of the port, my eyes not leaving his. "And in case you were actually wondering, you've never seen it before, and it's about four years old."

"Then I didn't miss it," I replied with a chuckle, bringing a hand up to faintly trace her cheek and neck as I drank some more of the port. "You do look lovely though, whether it's the gown or not."

"You're so sweet to an old lady Gervaise." I said, teasing both of us. I wasn't feeling old like I did some days.

"And you're kind to an old man," I told her in reply. "Older, I'd guarantee, than you will ever seem to be. Do you ever age?"

I smiled at the compliment. "Such flattery. You haven't changed much, have you my lord? A wife, a title, and many years, and you are still that same boy I met, all those summers ago."

"And you the same girl," I admitted, bringing my hand just a hair's breadth from her face before pulling it away and taking another long drink while meeting her gaze. "Perhaps it's merely that some things never change and don't have to."

A rather large part of me was screaming to know if nothing had changed between us, but I steadied myself. All in good time. Though the time might be sooner, rather than later.
"Then why do I have the feeling that you are rather like this port we are drinking, and get better with age?" I didn't have to do anything with my body to inflame him with my voice.

Her tone had a low sensuality to it and my blood beat louder. "Because you'd be the same way, of course," I replied in that growl. "I can feel it."

"You can feel it, my hunter?" The name brought back so many images. I leaned in ever so slightly, unable to help myself. "Like you can feel the exact moment to shoot the doe through the trees?"

She leaned in and the scent of her washed over me anew, making my nostrils flare and a low growl leave my throat. "Do you, my huntress?" I asked her lowly, fingers lightly touching the soft, smooth skin of her cheek. "I think I should wait until said doe moves into somewhat more conducive surroundings."

He had learned more control over the years. Or perhaps I just hadn't been teasing him enough. Either way, his words gave us both an out. "You did teach me so much that summer. I've quite enjoyed hunting ever since."

Almost physically I could feel her pull away, stinging a little. "Do you now?" I drawled, continuing to stroke her cheek and then into her hair. "Remember setting a false trail?" She should, I was doing it right now.

The two of us, setting down a false trail to make sure we weren't followed on our little 'hunting' trip, his serious manner at the undertaking making me laugh... Ah memories.
"How could I forget? You were so set on showing off your skills for me." I teased him back, thinking I knew what he was on about. "Though I must admit, I imagine I would be fair rusty at it now. I haven't had to sneak anywhere in a while."

"But it can be fun to remember an old time, or an old skill," I replied, taking her hand and lightly kissing her fingers. "Sneaking to, say, the Cockerel in the evening a few days hence. That would be an interesting trick, to see if you still can."

"Aye. It might indeed be interesting. Perhaps I might try on Tuesday..." I said, apparently thinking deeply about my schedule. "Is the weather supposed to be good, do you know?"

"I'm afraid I don't keep a sybil, but I expect rain every day during the spring," I told her whimsically. "Though one can never tell. I expect Tuesday will be obliging and follow whatever weather patterns you wish."

I brushed a stray lock from his forehead, the move intimate but quick enough to hide if the staff got nosy. "You're kind to say so." And so it was settled, and I took the opportunity to tease him again. "But even Shahrizai have limits. I don't think I can stop the rain, if it truly wanted to come down."

"Oh, but I think you'd at least put up a wonderfully willful fight," I told her, teasing as I licked my lower lip just slightly. If I wanted I could have still remembered how she tasted. We'd come to an accord and I could be patient if I had to.

I simply smiled, the heat in his gaze finding a companion in mine. One last sip and my port was done and I put the glass aside. "So how has the takeover been?"

"Surprisingly smoothly," I replied, able to be more of a friend now that my desires were abated with planning. "I already did a great deal of the more administrative duties in Kusheth, so I know where and when the money and supplies are going. Theodor's death was obviously an accident and one not terribly surprising, so only a few have spoken out."

He confirmed a rumour I had heard surrounding Theo's death. Apparently things with his parents had been complicated. "What, no bastard children crawling out of the woodwork to make trouble?" I teased with a smile, referring to the situation surrounding my accession to Matriarch.

"I doubt Theo's seed could have taken if any woman had stuck around long enough to try and catch it," I replied, "The way he drank. Rumors of bastards are always present but there's no one with a burden of proof save claiming to have been with him and possessing the scars to indicate it." My late cousin had been a good man at times, but his rages and passions were well known and, by myself, despised. It wasn't that hard to keep your self control.

I chuckled lightly. I knew the rumours, as did most of the City. "All the easier for you then."
