"He walks the fine line between taking initiative and being impertinent." I told her. "It's rather delightful actually."

"That is interesting," I agreed. "Though I think it would be more fun to see him cross that line. After all, very few are perfect."

"Then I shall let you play." I replied with a smile. I inwardly ticked one thing off the list, though writing Yvan was added. "Since you love to push boundaries."

"Someone must when so many other families live so neatly within them," I said with a sly grin, eyes flashing.
My cup of tea was empty again and I looked down curiously at the leaves, then set it aside. "We should do this more often and let me host you in my home next time."

"That would be most pleasant." I agreed with a smile. "Perhaps Talenon will be back by then?"

"Oh, I'm sure he will be," I replied, nonplussed and still smiling. He'd be back tomorrow- I just knew it. I had the vague inkling I'd been thinking so for some time but I pushed that away. He hadn't been gone long.

"Wonderful." Her reaction indicated nothing out of the ordinary, maybe everything was all right between them. Maybe. "I never do get to see enough of the two of you."

My smile was almost wide enough to crack my face and my eyes were beginning to spin with madness I tried hard to contain. "He spends a lot of his time out riding," I told her nonchalantly. "You'd probably miss him. I haven't even seen him in days."

And then again, maybe not. Oh dear. Even if I hadn't known how long Tal had been gone, you would have to be blind to miss the madness that flashed in her eyes.
"Sirena?" I asked, letting affection and comfort infuse my voice.

"What?" I replied distantly, looking down at my hands that gripped the teacup and noticing them trembling a bit. "Oh, I'm sorry- I guess I was lost in thought." My expression softened as I inwardly crooned to myself, not knowing if I did so outwardly but not really caring either.

I had thought Sirena merely eccentric, like the rest of the family. But it was starting to dawn on me that she was well and truly mad. Especially when she started humming to herself. One more thing to add to the list. Though I thought a visit to consult a doctor was about to take priority. The last thing I needed was a crazed Shahrizai roaming the City.
"Yes you were, and I know you said you had business to attend to..."

Her words were a slight sting, lost amid the growing ache in my head. "I suppose," I replied, standing and giving her a slight kiss on the cheek. "I'll let you know when the party is arranged. Thank you for having me."

Actually thinking on it, make it another crazed Shahrizai wandering the City.
"Of course. You take care of yourself, and I'll set up the meeting. Looks like we'll both be kept busy." I smiled, long years of practice bringing one with ease during even the most trying situations. And thinking on it, this wasn't so bad...

"Yes, I guess we will," I replied with a smile. "Until then, or I invite you over for tea."
With that I stood and dropped a slight but respectful curtsy, then swept gracefully from the room. I really did have a lot to do...

I passed a hand over my eyes after she left. Gods, a week after Yvan, and I needed another night like it. I hated stress. But I made myself get up and get back to work. Maybe I would reward myself. Soon was sounding awfully good, if not now. I sighed, heading upstairs to my study.
