Once Ambre had started her way down, I stared at the curvy horizon an instant, noting this was my first sunset atop a tree since I'd given my innocence to Bayard. The crimson sky was beautiful, and I was full of possibilities. Yes, I did owe him an open door, and I realized my own annoyance at him was merely a transfer of emotions I owed the situation. Suddenly, I realized I desired him still. Perhaps a visit at Eglantine would be a good idea in a few weeks.
I made my way down, and stopped 5 meters from the ground. I leaped down, and landed solidly, to find Ambre grinning at Brian, and Nicole smile wildly. I gave her a look of amusement, and thought to ask her about her time with the retainer on the way back.

"Shall we?" I said as I started to walk towards Firestride and the other mounts. Placing my foot in a stirup I slid easily onto his back and wrapped the reins around one hand. Brian has climbed on his mount as well. I watched the lite breeze blow through the tree I had just climbed and suddenly felt exhausted and dirty, but none the less happy.

Nodding in answer at Ambre's question, I stalked to Freya, and hopped on her back lightly, watching amusedly as Nicole struggled, less clumsily, I noted, and climbed on Percheron. I sided Ambre, Nicole well at the back with Brian, and said, "Well, if I don't see you at the Coronation, I guess I will send word the next day, and we can meet somewhere. Unless you have a better idea?"

I nodded, "That would work well." I gave her a smile, and firestride kicked one hoof into the ground impatiently, making a little divet. "So which way is it? This way?" I pointed in the direction I had thought we had come in. I wasn't entirely sure, as this was the f irst time I had been in the outlands, past the white walls of Elua.

I indicated the right direction, and gave a small chuckle. “He’s impatient. Care for another quick one?” I was myself intent on a quiet walk back, but, eh, if Ambre and Firestride were up to it, Freya and I would race. I had no idea when was my next chance, after all.

"He may be, but I am not." I smiled giving her a mischievous smile "Well... sometimes. I'd rather prefer a slowler walk back, I'm not much in a hurry." I pushed Firestride in the direction Julie had pointed, "If that's ok with you?" I was unsure if she was truly looking forward to racing, I knew she enjoyed it, and she had a great free spirit of shorts.

I smiled in relief. "Honestly, I wouldn't have turned you down just because I love galloping so much, but I am exhausted," I replied. I winked, "Exhausted, and happy, very happy, Ambre."
I turned Freya slowly towards the city, and said, "So what are your hopes for your time in the city?"

I shrugged, "Get to know the peerage I suspect. Learn things about court. Explore. I'm happy too, I'm glad I met somewhat of a kindred spirit," I said giving her a grin.

I nodded. I guess it would be the same for now, though I did have a brother to think about. Kendrick worried me.
"Definitely. Having a friend who wears breeches and rides," I sighed happily, "Elua bless Jonas for throwing me in a bunch and getting me out," I exclaimed, and it was punctuated by a giggle from Nicole.
I turned, and found her beet red. I winked at Ambre. "Looks like retainers are heart-thieves in the Rocaille house-hold as well, after all," I noted. But there was no guile in my voice. I liked Brian, though I would gut him alive if he made Nicole cry.

I laughed, "Awww well, it's not every day you meet a girl in pants." I glanced back at Brian, "He is a bit of a charmer is he not? But then he's like a brother that way, so I never fell to his charm. Tell me some about your brother."

“My brother?” I thought an instant. “Kendrick is very smart, very proper. He will make an excellent Comte, if he can cool his temper.” I sighed. “I hope he does, but in truth, I won’t blame him if he bides his time.” I left it at that. I wasn’t going to expose Kendrick’s love life to Ambre – that was his information to share, not mine.

"I think my brother will make an excellent Comte too, I'm glad it isn't my duty to bare. I still want to travel. Maybe they could be friends? Although I'm sure they've met probably, my brother has been to court before, unlike me."

"I don't know, it seems Kendrick has been recluse since he's arrived. I'm not seeing him having made any friends since I've been here.... but I may be wrong. Maybe you and your brother can visit our home one day, and we'll see if our brothers get along as well as we do ?"
I smiled. It was so nice to have made a friend. Oh, I did hope I would see her at the Fete.

I laughed, "Not my brother, he's not the shy and quiet type. If anyone considers me a hellion they should of seen him! But he was a boy, so he got away with a lot more, you know? I'll ask him if he'd like to come over. We should definitely visit one another."

I grinned, "Yes, we should." Then cocked my head to the side and asked, "How old is your brother?"

"Kendrick is 22. And your brother is almost my age," I added with a teasing grin. "I don't know if Kendrick would like him, but I think I will."

I laughed, "Fair young maiden like you, I'm sure he'd be head over heels. You be careful with him though, he's a bit of a sweet talker."

"Is he? Don't worry, my heart is well protected. And I am not giving it away without a fight!" And to illustrate, I took a mock fighting stance. "Although... maybe..." I said as I gave Ambre an assessing look, "If he is as good looking as you are pretty, he might get to rustle a few feathers of mine."

"Indeed, he might. I think he generally has good will, but he is my brother. I'd let you take him as a lover, but not as a long term thing, then I'd be too afraid I'd lose you to him," I laughed again.

I grew stern at Ambre's words. "Don't worry, my friend. I don't do the long term thing."
And trying to stay light, I added, "and my friendship can never be lost, not unless you betray my trust, Ambre. And I don't believe you would."

I glanced over to Julie as her tone changed slightly and then she jested again, so I became less concerned about it, "Well I would hope not, although if you are defending cake one day, I might have to betray you to make sure it gets to a proper safe haven, like my mouth or belly" I said wrlyly giving her a grin.

I giggled, "You are a cake-monger? Now that I will have to see! I will put up a fierce resistance, so be warned," I replied with a chuckle.

I laughed, "While all cake is to be defended, I do try to help the most innocent, and noble of all cakes, and the yummiest too." I gave her a wink, "Chocolate generally." Of no doubt did I have that Julie would be hard to get past, but I was slightly banking on our friendship and that she'd share. Although, I almost thought Julie wouldn't share so she could go through the effort of defending it defiantly against me.

I laughed more wildly. "Chocolate? Are you sure? Oh, I promise you the fiercest resistance, in deed I do ! But if you are really, really nice, I might consider letting you in on my cake reserves," I said with mock grandeur.
In truth, I wasn't much of a sweet tooth, but I did love to tease, and I would tease Ambre to the end if it came to it, relinquishing her prize out of the sheer goodness of my heart. As time passed, she would come to know my ways, and would likely take to the pleasantry. Besides, it only meant she would get double portions.

"Well then I will just have to be as sweet as sugar, will I not? Sweeter than bee's honey." I gave her a coy mischievous look, and was happy with my new friend. "I'll share my tea," I offered.

"Oh, but you are so very sweet, Ambre darling, how could I refuse you?" I replied in a teasing tone. " But please, to keep your tea," I added with a disdainful stance. "Grandmother's drink ! Give me some ale, some mead, some kafae !!!" I added in mock taunt.

I laughed, "Tea is not just for old ladies! But I do like you train of thought, although I'm not sure I've gotten entirely used to ale yet. Besides we can add a little liquor instead of honey to yours."

"Liquor? Eh, why not ! Anything that saves me from looking grandmotherly, for there is room for only one ancestor in this" my finger made a pointing gesture to her and I, "duet. And I believe it will be you, since you are already set in such patterns," I added in outright taunt.

I didn't really understand what she was getting at, but I smiled anyway and went along with it, "Okay we'll make sure you don't look like a grandmother, I promise."
