"You know it's the best Magda," I peered through the crack of the study door. "It means keeping the blood lines pure, its not as if they're that close." The Marquis, my father, was talking about Seby my half brother.
"You two are always off doing your magic things, its not like they're growing up together, she's been living at Gentian for four years now." He sighed. "You know it would mean a safe future for Seraphin, she'd have title and money." He added. I could see the look in my mother's eyes.
"She should be free to choose..."
"You shouldn't be spying." A voice came from behind, it was Seby, he pressed himself against my back, his fingers finding my waist to tickle me. Even though Seby was sixteen, he still chose to pick on me.
I jumped and swatted his hands away.
"If they're discussing my future then I have a right to hear." I said defiantly looking back at him. He stood very close to me, so close that I could feel his heat. I had already began to read of my future duties, in secret of course.
"Yeah, they've been at it for the last few days." He said peeking into the room over top of me. "My mother and your mother have been sharing his bed too much lately, pitting ideas against eachother." I looked over my shoulder as Seby looked down at me, a wry smile on his face. He pressed more firmly against me as he tried to look around at my mother.
"I don't understand what your mother has against me, I think its a perfect idea. Saves me from having to find a wife." I glowered back at him. I would not marry Sebastien...or at least I didn't think I would. That was what my mother hoped would happen. Sending me to Gentian meant that I wouldn't have the constant presures of the Marquise de Lorean to wed her son. It also meant that I would have a lively hood if I so chose not to marry him.
"I'll marry whom I wish." I said quietly through gritted teeth.
"You're my brother." I finalized.
"So," He said leaning so that I could feel a growing bulge in his breeches. It was one think I worried about my father's family. There was some Kusheline blood within them and within me. I wasn't keen on seeing what that world held.
"I mean we're already close." He said leaning his lips to my ear.
"And we wouldn't have to worry about sharing the estate," He continued, his breath was unwantingly hot against my skin. "We'd have eachother." The last words were more a groan then anything.
"You're my half brother," I whispered feeling my voice haggered. Was this the desire that I had read of? "And I should choose for love." He pulled back slightly.
"Then choose love Seraphin." He said removing his warmth from me. His presence left me as he left, but I was still confused.
I felt strange feelings about Sebastien, things I both liked and didn't like. But I would not make desicions now, I was still a child and I had much to see. I continued to watch my parents banter and bicker back and forth, the choices to be left made.
Turning I looked over my shoulder to see the disapearing figure of Seby, a slight breeze rolling over my body as he disapeared to the shadows.
