Name: Pièter Kolcei
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Illyrian
Appearance: Pièter Kolcei is a tall (6ft) and well muscled youth with lean and pleasing lines to his body and the natural easy gate of one as at home on the rolling deck of a ship as he is on land. Possessing sparkling blue eyes and light brown hair the natural youthful exuberance of the lad is nearly contagious and one cannot help but to like him.
Pièter Kolcei is the oldest nephew of the Ban of Illyria Zim Sokali. Pièter is the son of the Ban’s brother Nicolie Kolcei and his wife Marisopia Kolcei and was raised in relative comfort as well as being well educated. As is nearly mandatory though for the sea fairing Illyrian Pièter was instructed from an early age in the ways of the sea as well as blade work. Illyria is a nation known for its pirates and the royal youth has been well versed in that heritage from an early age. Though the term pirate in this case is a bit of a misnomer as La Serenissma and Caerdicca Unitas has long dominated the areas trade through means that were often less than above board.
This in turn has choked off the sea loving Illyrians and forced them toward a life of piracy when in fact free trade is what they desire the most. Thus what has long been referred to as Illyrian pirates are largely would be traders who have been forced into less scrupulous ways of earning a living. Trying to alter this state of affairs the Ban has long sought above board trade with Terre d’ Ange and at last it seems he may be making headway.
Terre d’ Ange has agreed to accept an ambassador and the Ban h Pièter has elected to send his well educated and polished nephew. Pièter is favorite relative as well as being a chronic over achiever excelling in most all his endeavors. The one thing the youth lacks though is experience as he is often relatively naive about the ways of the world his views being clouded by a basic trust of his fellows. While this sort of a world view is refreshing in a companion it is a decided handicap in a politician thus many question why the Ban is sending one so wet behind the ears to try and establish open relations with Terre d’ Ange.
Yet the Ban does realize his nephew’s short comings and has picked him with several premeditated reasons in mind that might turn his lack of experience into an advantage. First of all the typical stereo type of an Illyrian is that of a pirate and the Ban hopes that by sending one as fresh faced as Pièter that image may be altered. After all why would a wealthy nation like Terre d’ Ange wish to trade openly with raw pirates? Secondly the Ban is well aware of his nephew’s personal charms many owning to his youth so perhaps he may capture the attention of one royal or noble daughter or another. While not openly seeking an alliance marriage if it just so happened to work out that way it would certainly be a happy accident that might serve to open up boarders more than any negotiating could ever hope to. The fact that Pièter is relatively close to the throne in the line of succession only makes that possibility more intriguing
