Played By: Justin Hartley
Name: Prince Gratien de Somerville, Comte d'Azur
Age: 27
Height: 6'0
Race: D'angeline (Anaeline/Elua)
Gender: Male
Home Province: L'Agnace
Appearance: Gratien is tall at 6'0 and lean but quite toned and muscular, his skin a milky white. He has a solider's carriage. His hair is a dusky wheat blonde that's almost the same milky white in the sun, his eyes a striking sky blue. Like his ancestor's Gratien is very much of Anael's line and though the scent of apple's is a present trait, it's hint is soft and less pungent then his other relatives.
History: Gratien's history starts almost a century ago when his great grandfather wed a Courcel daughter. But the history really begins with his grandfather Phillipe de Somerville, younger brother of Percy de Somerville.
Phillipe, unlike his elder brother, was a quiet note in the annals of D'Angeline history. Had he not been born to House Somerville Phillipe would have gone to the Namarre and raised as a Priest of Naamah. At one point his parent's even considered having him fostered at the Night Court, but it was a thing unheard of and so his parents simply allowed him his freedom. He grew up in sweet innocence and fell in love with the young nobleman's daughter, Anise, at a young age; she sixteen and he eighteen. By Anise's eighteenth birthday she gave birth to Rogier, and at her twenty second Amee. Amee unfortunately died at the age of six when she fell through the ice on their family's property.
Rogier was quite the opposite of his mother and father, and though kind and caring his spirit was adventureous and more in favour of court. Indeed Rogier was a reminder of his uncle Percy. Alway's out in nature or reading books on the Art of War, Rogier was far more rustic and where his father would have been a Priest of Naamah, he would have been a Priest of the Cassiline Brotherhood. When he reached the age of majority Rogier left Terre d'Ange and ventured out on his own. Showing great skills of diplomacy Queen Sidonie gave him the position of Ambassador of Terre d'Ange. Traveling from nation to nation Rogier made good of his skills and Rogier was offically granted the title of Prince once more as well as Comte d'Azur. Returning home at the age of thirty-six he decided to return home and settle down.
After a lengthy courtship Rogier wed the daughter of a minor house Annalise and she, who was much younger then him by a decade, bore him four children. Gratien, Azabel, Maurice and Pierre.
Gratien, the eldest, is a mix of both his grandfather and his father and has taken his duties both in strive and full heartedly. He's strong and kind but quiet and is often seen as shy and reserved, but is quite hillerious when relaxed or drinking. Now spending most of his day's in the city, his title of Comte is new to him and he's finding new challenges in his world.
Being raised in the country side and having a strong military ancestory, Gratien was given a up bringing of varied back ground. But never the less he was given tutelage worthy of a Somerville. Swordmanship, riding, as well as hand to hand combat. Indeed, Gratien is more liken to a Camaeline back ground as he inlisted in the army at his majority. The most interesting quirk of Gratien is that he's left handed.
