"Tempeste....TEMPESTE...are you listening to me?" I was so caught up in my dreams of my parents coming to my graduation that I didn't notice that my teacher was speaking to me. I hadn't seen my parents in 3 years, that is when they sent me to Tiberium to study. I promised my father that I would be the best ambassador that Azzalle had to offer, and I wasn't about to let him down. "Yes, I'm listening to you." I said in my softest voice, "You were informing the class that graduation will be in 3 weeks and that we need to send out letters to our families to see if they will be attending." She glared at me. Somehow I felt as if she was hoping that I wasn't listening, anything to fail me. I was the top student in our class. I was the quickest to learn a new language, and be able to use it in my everyday life as if it was my primary language. But I have to admit if it was not for that tutor, Serban, that my father insisted that I have I would not be so advanced in my learning. He was a native of the land, and his parents wanted him to be multi-lingual as well. So while in our studies together we enhanced each others vocabulary. "Have you mailed your letter to your parents yet?" Serban asked. I laughed at him. Ah Eula, how I loved his d'Angeline accent. "Of course, I mailed it out weeks ago. I'm just waiting for a letter back. The last one that I received said that my mother was with child. I hope that all is doing well for her...the last time she was with child, she lost it. I've had the chance to have 3 siblings. One before I was born and twice after. I just don't think I was meant to have a brother or sister. Do you have any siblings Serban?" He looked at me with tears in his eyes. "I come from a large family. There are 13 of us...I am the middle child. This is why my family is raising me to learn different languages and cultures. It is their hope that I don't stay here forever, that I can carry on our family name with pride, just as you are Tempeste. Do you think that your family will allow me to travel with you as you go on your journey through life." My eyes sparkled with fear and joy, and for a moment I was speechless, and yet how my lips moved to tell him one of the thousand thoughts that rushed into my head I still will never know. "Serban, I don't believe my father will let another man travel with me lest he be my husband or a brother. If it was purely my own choice I would allow you to travel to the ends of the world with me, I enjoy these moments with you. I feel as if by some chance that we were meant to meet." I took his hand in mine, "You are the only one here that truly understands me and you treat me as an equal, not like some outsider. You've allowed me to be apart of your culture and your family, although I've never met them, and I will forever be indebted to you." He removed his hand from mine and wrapped it around me, bringing our bodies closer together, I looked up into his dark brown eyes. "And I will speak with my father when he comes to my graduation to see if he will allow you to return to Azzalle with us, if your family will allow you to go as well." And before I could take a breath, in that small moment of time, he leaned down and kissed me.
