Chuckling, I tilted her face gently back up to mine. "It's very gratifying to hear that from you," I told her softly, absorbing the picture she made to keep for a good long time.

“I only said ‘might’.” I pointed out while I met his eyes again, trying to tease but really just blushing all the more. “As you said, it could be the other way around.”

"That's also true," I admitted with an honest smile. "Either of us, or both, could be witches, I suppose."

I traced the sign of protection against my chest, habit having turned to instinct many years ago. I blushed a little, knowing he would probably think me silly, then tried to laugh it off. "Wouldn't you be a warlock instead?"

"I don't know, we don't really have witches in Terre d'Ange," I admitted. "But in any case, I feel more bewitched than like I've been bewitching others."

I blushed more, though this time it was from the pleasure of the compliment instead of embarrassment. "Well, don't tell anyone then." I teased. "Witches tend to have short life spans." About as long as my prospects if we are caught like this.

"It'll be our secret," I told her with a smile.
The water-clock on the mantel chimed softly and I looked over at it, amazed at the time. "It's getting late, you should get some sleep."

“And what about you?” I asked with a concerned look. The lock of hair that I had tucked behind his ear earlier had escaped again, so I repeated the process. “You need sleep as much as I do.”

"I know," I replied, fingers stroking her cheek. "And I will, I swear." A smile crossed my face and I ran my hand over her lips lightly, more like a breath than an actual touch. "Can I have one more kiss for sweet dreams?"

Another kiss? Oh yes please.
“Of course.” I said with a soft smile. I leaned forward, closing the small distance between us, and pressed my lips to his lightly.

Smiling slightly I met her lips with just a little more pressure, wanting to give her a goodnight kiss to remember but not pressing her for it. After all, she'd already shown me so much trust and goodwill that I was disinclined to give her any reason to scorn my company- or my affections. Still, her lips tasted as sweet as I remembered, and so warm, that I couldn't help the sound of pleasure that left my throat.

He moaned ever so softly, and I knew he wanted more. But he didn't press me at all. Knowing I was in safe hands, I deepened the kiss, his taste filling my senses like wine. Finally, I had to pull away, my breathing unsteady and my blood flaring anew.

Gasping, I let her pull away, then did so slightly myself. My blood throbbed and I tried to settle my breathing and pulse. "Yes, at this point I think sleep would be a good idea," I finally managed, a little breathless but smiling. "Before I try to find a reason for us to talk longer and do that again."

"If we do that again, there won't be any way I'll be able to sleep." I said, then forced myself to stand and wrap my blanket firmly around me. "Good night Landis. And... thank you." My voice was soft.

Shaking my head slightly I looked up at her. "No, thank you," I replied in the same tone. "Truly. Can you find your way back to your room alright?"

“I should be fine.” I replied, pulling the blanket tighter around my shoulders. I was starting to become chilly, out of the fire’s direct path and away from the warm sensations he caused in me. I took one last lingering look at him by the light of the flame. “Good night then.” I blew him a kiss, then fled before I no longer had the willpower.

Smiling, I watched her go, then wrapped my own blanket tighter and stood to make my way for my own bed. Likely the morning would find things more complicated than they were at this moment, and I would need all of the sleep I could get to adjust with it.
