I stepped into the cold dark house that was to be my town home, it smelt of dust and a vague lavender and lilies mix. The house hadn't been vacant long but it was a good things as it meant less work, it meant I would be living comfortably a lot sooner. I sighed as the cleaning crew I had hired began work taking the covers off the furniture and sweeping the floors. I walked past them all and moved up the small staircase to the upper level of the house. It was small, the town house of a young lord and his growing family, the lounge, dinning room and a small parlor, a kitchen (which I was less then worried about considering I never cooked) and library were all satisfactory for my needs. I didn't intend on having any company and belongings for the bound word was summed up in 5 books. Three copies of books used frequently in my service to Namaah, a diary of my personal thoughts, pleasures and goals, and the most important one…a journal of Tourais History. All that I had been told, all that I had seen, all that I had searched for was there in my journal, the most precious item I had for it held the truth…all truths. The house was only equipped with 2 bedrooms, a guest and a master suit, and one average sized bathing room. Small, yes compared to the Tourais home in La Serenissima but it didn't matter, like I said, I wouldn't be using it for much. I opened the drapes of the master room letting in the light staring out into the blossoming day. I wonder what Ambrose is doing right now? I thought to myself a wisp of a smile curling my lips. There was a noise at the door and I turned seeing the footmen carrying my trunks.
"Right there," I pointed to the armoire, one of the men dropped one side and it feel unceremoniously. "Careful!" I screamed walking over to him in large steps. "You brutish oaf, watch what you're doing with my things or I'll take the cost from your hide!" He stepped back his eyes wide.
"Forgive me Comtesse." He said with a stutter, I shook my head and walked back to the window thinking on all my plans.
It took almost 5 hours for the trunks arrival as well as the house to be cleaned and dinner to be served, I sat quietly eating as Jeanile stood watching.
"I'm going to court tomorrow." I said quietly.
"Yes ma'am."
"I want my best gown pressed."
"Of course ma'am." She replied quietly.
"I'll have to look my best when I meet with the Queen."
