It was much colder then I remembered, the snow seemed foreign and I was glad that mother's house was warm. My trunks were stowed away and my clothing hung, I entered mother's room.
"How was your trip home?" She said softly as I sat at the side of her bed.
"Long." I said with a chuckle.
"Are you happy to be home?" She asked carefully knowing that I came home out of duty but not want.
"Yes, very much so." I said smiling. "Though it will be hard getting use to the weather." I said running my hand over her hair.
"You'll get used to it." Mother's face worried with a soft smiled.
"I know I will." I replied. "I should finish unpacking, and you should sleep." I leaned over and pressed my lips to her forehead then rose. "I'll be back before dinner."
"Alright." She said sighing. I nodded and moved through the door and back to my own. This would be a trial.
