I moved us through the doors and a server appeared before us.
"I would like a table, please." I said noticing that the server had barely noticed Coretta. "Her Highness Princess Coretta would like the table to be private. She doesn't need gaulkers while she eats." My tone was some what harsh but the man moved nodding and saying he needed a moment.
"You shant be disturbed now." I said winking. "You must enjoy throwing your name around." I commented. "I'd do it if I was you."

I didn't really look around the room, I had stared my share the night Moon and I had come. What a farce that had been. Silently I prayed no one I knew would be here, for once letting me have a quiet meal. Zacharie stationed himself discreetly behind us and I knew the other guards would have followed us and stationed themselves outside. How I loved being a carnival attraction.
"Hmm, sometimes, when I want things or have little patience with people and their idiocy. Or when I'm bored it's quite entertaining to watch plebeians scramble. I know it's cruel so I try not to do it often. In truth my lord, anonymity is highly prized by me. I hate feeling like a curiosity." I murmured so only he could hear.

I scoffed softly at her. "Why?" I asked seeing the server approach I leaned over. "You are a God to these people." I whispered.
"Please come this way Your Highness." He said gesturing for us to follow. I smiled to Coretta and began to guide us through the resturant to a small table toward the back. Once Coretta had sat I followed and when we were alone I turned to her.
"You were given power for a reason, why not use it?"

I let Dominic lead me to a secluded table and let out a deep breath when no one I recognized was in the restaurant. Sitting, I gracefully shrugged off my cloak to reveal the lovely gown beneath. Though it was black, the bright Courcel Blue edging it made me feel better. The sleeves were long and tight, as was the bodice and skirts until they flared out below my knees. It wasn't demure, but not nearly as daring as I liked.
Leaning back I contemplated what Dominic had said. "I do use my power, mostly for my own gain. But there is something to be prized in anonymity, my lord. Think of it, if you want to do something that requires discretion, it's easy. For me to do anything remotely fun I have to contend with a Casseline, palace guards and the annoying problem of being easily identified. There are not many golden blonde's with lavender eyes and twin brothers about, so it makes it difficult to go unnoticed. And as much as I love scandals, I'd rather wait until my name was connected with a really good one, not something silly."

I was in the kitchen, toying with a new potato and mushroom recipe, when David came barreling in the kitchen so fast he almost couldn't stop before he collided with the stove. Reaching out, I grabbed his arm and pulled him back before he roasted himself.
"Elua's balls, David! You almost killed yourself," I exclaimed.
"Sorry," he gasped, eyes locked on the stove he had almost become one with. "Princess Coretta…. At the back table… a Shahrizai too…."
Understanding why he was rushing, David always trembled around royalty, I released him gently and say him down.
"It's alright, catch your breath," I told him.
I wiped off my hands, straightened my clothes, and retrieved a bottle of Namarrese red along with two of the best crystal goblets.
With a wink to Leaha, who was trying to calm David, I went out to the dining area and to the back table.
"Your highness," I said with a deep bow, making sure to keep my voice at a level so as not to attract the attention of the other diners. "It is an honor to have you grace my restaurant again."

I looked up when someone approached our table and was faintly surprised to see the owner. Thankfully today was more pleasant circumstances for meeting him than last time.
"Messier d'Nourriture , how nice to see you again. I promise this time no scene will be forthcoming, I fully intend to dine in peace today." I gave him a small smile and waved my hand around absently. Yes, today was going to be serene even if it killed me.

With a smile, I inclined my head slightly. "The incidents of last your last visit were neither your fault nor worth thinking on," I said with a smile. "I am just pleased that you have returned."
Producing the bottle of wine, I showed her the label.
"This is a bottle of our finest Namaresse red, I thought you might like to start with some wine… unless you prefer a white, or even champagne?" I asked, knowing that there was no offense in offering her the best wine in the house, but also wanting to make sure she had what she liked.

I smiled to the owner as he approached and looked to Coretta smiling. "I enjoy red." I said with a shrug.

"We thank you,Messier d'Nourriture, for the wine, and the personal attention. My companion and I are starving, so what do you recommend to go with this fine Namareese red?" I gave the chef a pleased smile, glad he wasn't going to kick me out and equally glad that he wasn't fawning. As much as I liked to pull rank sometimes, today was not one of them.
Dominic's comments about being a trite courtier still stung and I was going to do my damnedest to act naturally. If I could remember. My smile only dimmed marginally.

Deftly, I opened the bottle and filled their glasses as I answered her. "I would start with spinach en croute and follow it with a main course of roasted lamb, herbed potatoes, and glazed carrots."

"That sounds perfect." I said smiling to Coretta as I took a sip of the wine savouring it slowly.

I watched Dominic's hands as he took a sip of the wine, my attention then transfixed on his mouth. I had to pull my attention back to the moment, so I smoothly took a sip of my own wine to cover my lapse. It was good, spicy and dry, a hint of oak and cinnamon.
"I trust your judgment in this arena implicitly, Messier chef. And thank you again for the wine, it is superb."

"It is my honor to serve," I said, smiling and bowing again. "I shall send your meal out immediately."
With that, I withdrew and returned to the kitchen. Leaha had calmed David, but he still looked pale. I told Leaha what to prepare and take out to them, she beamed with happiness at being able to serve the Princess. Leaha was the perfect person for these sort of things, incredibly skilled and graceful, filled with enough awe to be polite, and discreet beyond all measure.
I winked at her again as she headed out with the en croute, the main courses being assembled with extreme care by the others.
Ah yes, this would be much better than the Princess's last visit.
