I laughed, "Oh, goodness I couldn't think that," I said, "After all we are defined by our desires, are we not? And I believe it is our one saving grace to be able to choose our desires, that way we can redefine ourselves anytime we like." I finished, brushing the stray lock of hair out of my face again, curling my hand around my ear smootly, the gesture entirely flirtatious and open.

"My desires don't define me as much as drive me," I said, smiling wryly and leaning forward so that my elbows rested on the table, my eyes fixed on hers. "When I find something I desire, I pursue it until I get it. Nothing in my life has ever escaped me. When I want something, I do whatever is required to have it."

I met his gaze and smiled, that was what I had thought. "Drive is a good thing as well, we are little if not driven by what we desire." I did not break his gaze, I simply stared back at him, my grin growing wider the longer he stared.

The connection of our gazes was broken by the waiter as he returned and set down our desserts.
"Enjoy," he said, then bowed slightly and left.
Picking up the chilled spoon, I took a bite of the mousse, just stopping myself from making a sound of happiness. Ever since the harbor, I'd had this need for lemons, could not get enough of them. There had been more than one time that this mousse was the best part of a dinner and assignation with a patron.

I at once regretted breaking his gaze as the waiter showed up. But then I was delighted to watch him smile genuinly at the first bite he took, It made him seem so carefree.
I made a hum pleasure as the passion fruit flavor burst upon my tongue mixed with the vanilla and cocout and I found myself marveling the flavors and textures of the dish before me. "Ah, perfectly delectable, " I commented taking another bite and slowly sliding the fork out of my mouth, my eyes closing in pleasure as I licked my lips.

I finished my fourth bite before I could make myself stop eating long enough to reply.
"That does look good," I said, indicating her dessert. "Even if the food here didn't taste so amazing, it would be worth coming just to see how pretty everything looked when put together."
Using the lemon wafer that came wedged into the mousse as a scoop, I took another bite.

I giggled watching him in his almost child-like delight, "Yes, it do agree, just the sight of all of them would be something." I was rather enjoying mine and he was no doubt enjoying his so I let us eat in silence for a moment or two before continuing our conversation.
When I had taken my last bite I sighed plesantly and set aside my fork. "Truly wonderful as always," I said, somewhat sad that our lunch was coming to a close but glad too that I still had plans for the rest of the day.
"I was hoping to find a few new dresses to add to my wardrobe this afternoon," I said, by way of leading him back into conversation. "Would it be too much to ask if you might come along? I would assuredly like a second opinion, you know how those vendors are, perfectly flattering and pleasant and only out to sell their products. I wouldn't want to get stuck with an embarrassing purchase." I said, finishing my drink and blushing softly, looking to meet his gaze. It was so enthralling I found that I didn't want to leave his company.

With a soft sigh of regret, I finished my mousse and pushed it the bowl aside.
"I doubt that there has ever been a dress created that wouldn't look stunning on you," I told her, smiling. "Even so, I would be delighted to accompany you. I could use a few new things myself and any excuse to spend more time with you is a good enough reason for me."

He was sincerely interested and that made me smile, that and his outright compliment of my beauty. "Thank you." I said, becoming a little excited at the thought of being able to continue our time together.
I got up from my seat and waited for him to meet up with me before heading for the door. There I paid my bill in full and tipped the staff generously, leaving several ducats for their fine service. "Everything was lovely this afternoon, Thank you." I commented, accepting my fur coat from the attendant.

I joined her at the door after seeing to my things.
Offering her my arm, I asked, "Shall we?"

I smiled at him as he approached, "Thank you," I said and took his arm graciously, "Yes, let's. I am eager to get my hands on those lush fabrics and loose myself in a flurry of color and costume." I replied, exiting the building arm in arm with Fisher.
It was a very different feeling, companionship, and I realized just how much I missed having someone I could simply be with and talk with without having to please them at every turn with every move I made and every word I said. It was nice to just be myself for once and enjoy someone else's company.
A contented grin washed over my face as we made our way to the carriage and I realized I was happy, truly happy at this moment. It wasn't a facade I had put on to please a patron, it was a real, true and honest emotion and I had someone else to thank for it and it made me feel glorious.

"If shopping for clothes was described like that more often, I think we adepts would see a marked drop in patronage. You make it sound so…enjoyable," I said, though that certainly wasn't the word I was thinking.
I offered her my hand as we reached the carriage.

Laughing I took his hand, entering the carriage and seating myself comfortably, "I wouldn't want that," I said, "so I won't tell anyone else how enjoyable I find it. That way we can still look forward to our fair share of patrons."
Gazing at him as he entered the carriage I met his gaze and grinned dazzlingly, "Besides, I wouldn't want to miss finishing my mark by mid-winter and to do that I would need to keep my current patrons and then some, and it wouldn't do at all to let them spend their money elsewhere." I winked, "I would want them to have a very large purse to drop as my patron gift, thus assuring I get what I want in the end."

"Well, well, well, my fetching little Orchis adept, it sounds as if you may have a touch of Bryony in you," I said, grinning.
Settling into my seat across from her, I rather unabashedly enjoyed her beauty.
"I promise not to tell how enjoyable you find clothes shopping, as long as you keep that secret for me as well. I am a bit of a clothes horse and find that most of the coin I spend on myself goes to adding to my wardrobe."

I preened at his comment, "I certainly will, cross my heart." I said, doing as much while saying it, then crossed my fingers and lightly kissed them, sealing the promise.
"It never hurts to have a large wardrobe, I have found, it keeps one from boredom and its very enjoyable to wear new things." I said smiling, simply enjoying being able look at him endlessly.

"My wardrobe was rather limited as a child, so I tell myself I'm only making up for lost time. It makes it sound all the more reasonable when I find myself drawn to a display of new vests or breeches," I told her, chuckling.
My eyes had very closely followed her fingers as they crossed her heart, though it had been her cleavage I was more interested in.

"I see, very good then to cater to your own desires and spoil yourself from time to time. I find I don't do that as often as I could, but it sure makes for an even better experience when I do." I said, noticing his gaze following my fingers across my breast. I smiled, enjoying myself.

"It's easier to spoil yourself once your marque is made, there's not that little voice inside comparing the price of those new boots to the ink it could buy for your skin."
I glanced out the window for a moment as the memory of completing my marque drifted across my thoughts. Then I looked back at her.
"Then again, once you finish your marque you'll be focusing on starting your business, it may be a while before you can spoil yourself guiltlessly." A wry smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. "Until then, you'll just have to find someone else to spoil you."

"Oh, I can't tell you how many times I've thought that, but I have thankfully listened to my own good advice and visited the Marquist instead of the market." I laughed, delightedly, "That is why, on this special occasion, I have decided to give in a little and spoil myself for once. After all, mid winter comes just onece out of the entire year." I said, watching him look out the window and following his gaze, wondering what he was thinking at the moment.
I watched as he turned back to me, a curious smile tugging at the corner of his lips and said that I should find someone else to spoil me when I had made my marque and started my business. I grinned knowingly, for I believed I had already found that person. But casually I said, "I certainly hope to have someone spoil me like that," and looked directly at him, "I know that starting a business will probably take most if not all of my time and I sincerely hope that there will be someone I can count on to drag me away from it all when it seems like I need an escape and haven't taken one for myself."

"Having a person like that in your life is very important. It's easy to get caught up in something and lose yourself in it." My smile bloomed fully. "Even stuffy, anti-social Bryony adepts can admit that fun is important."
The sound of the street beneath the wheels of the carriage changed, indicating we were in the clothier's area.
"Seems as if we are here," I said, not looking out the window but keeping my eyes on her.

"Hmm, I am pleased to say that you have proved that to be true, Fisher. I can tell that you enjoy having fun and am glad that I have been included in it today." I said, "And it does seem as though we have arrived. " I smiled, meeting his gaze.

"I must admit that I am wishing it had been a longer trip, there's something very… intimate about a carriage ride," I said as the carriage came to a stop.

My eyes grew wide at his comment, Intimate?I thought to myself, somewhat frozen as the implication of what he had said hit me. Trying to recover quickly I fiddled with my coat, trying to hide a blush I felt creaping up my neck.
Still trying to hide my blush I smiled and glanced out the window eagerly searching for a distraction. I had been thinking along the same lines admitedly, but he had still caught me off guard by saying as such.
"Ah, yes, this is just the place." I said, gathering my resolve and fighting down my blush. I looked back to him and smiled, hoping he hadn't caught me blushing, but the hope was a small one as I did like him and it was only a natural reaction to be caught so off guard by someone you liked.

She was even more fetching when she blushed. The soft creep of color absolutely begged to followed by lips and tongue.
I returned her smile when she looked back at me, for while I did enjoy her reaction, I was not the type to revel in her being uncomfortable.
"I haven't been here in ages, I look forward to seeing what they have," I told her, then stepped out and offered her my hand.
