I hadn't heard from or seen Leon in well over a month, after he'd said he would be riding out for business and would return the next day. I wondered and worried, and I missed him terribly, but it simply didn't feel right to live in his house after even a week of him being gone, and so I'd left him a note telling him where I was and why I'd gone and gotten a tiny room at an out-of-the-way inn for Pullo and myself with the remainder of my funds from my escape from Skaldia. The pup was growing quite quickly. He needed exercise, and so I took him on daily walks around the City as I familiarized myself with it. My favorite place, however, was the square with the fountain. Pullo loved to jump up onto the wide base of it and growl at his reflection, or simply snooze on the warm marble in the sunlight while I read or wrote.
Today was no different, although it was a drawing tablet in my hands and not a book. I had a pencil and was sketching Pullo snoozing, as he usually did, on the base of the fountain. He snuffled in his sleep and I laughed and shook my head at my silly pup and sighed before setting my tablet and pencil atop my satchel and simply resting my back sideways against the pillar protruding from the fountain bench, my fingers trailing in the clear water of the fountain.
