Post by Luke Pescaro del Leovanni (R) on Sept 22, 2005 16:07:16 GMT -5
Name: Lucius “Luke” Alexander Pescaro del Leovanni
Future Conte del Leovanni
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Height: 6'2"
Race: Serenissiman / D'Angeline (Eisheth)
Appearance: Luke shows a beautiful mix of his Serenissiman and D’Angeline heritage. He has a head of raven black ringlets, which he keeps short and well maintained, and looks out at the world through hazel eyes. His face holds the angles of a D’Angeline, which has many young ladies whispering. He stands at 6’2”, and is nicely muscled. He moves with the grace of a trained warrior, and has a tan from his time spent on the seas.
History: Luke’s father was the only son of the Pescaro family, a leading Worthy Family heavily involved in La Serenissma’s navy. When his father, Alexander, fell in love with a D’Angeline woman in the port city of Marsilikos, he brought the common-born woman home to meet his parents. Alexander’s father was furious his son would dare to even think of marrying someone below him. When Alexander insisted, Lorenzo gave him a choice: marry a highborn lady of his choosing, or be disowned. Alexander walked out and never spoke of his family again.
Alexander promptly married Natalie, and continued his career in La Serenissma’s navy. Three years they spent, longing for each other while Alexander was on the seas, and blissfully happy when he came home on leave. Natalie settled into life away from her homeland, making friends and finding a job as a cuisinière at a high-end inn until she became pregnant. Before the babies were born, Alexander was killed in a skirmish with pirates. When Natalie heard the news, her heart broke, and she died shortly after giving birth to twins: Lucius and Lizabeth. Alexander’s mother, Josette, had kept tabs on her youngest and favourite child (and only son), and talked Lorenzo into forgiving their grandchildren of their parents ‘sins’, and raising them.
Luke grew up with the knowledge that he will inherit the position of patriarch of the Pescaro family, and might someday become the Doge. He learned two different stories of his parents: one from his grandfather, of foolishness, and one from his grandmother, of love. He doesn’t know whom to believe, but he came out of it with a deep hatred of the pirates who killed his parents. Luke learned from the best tutors his grandparents could find, and showed an especial gift for languages. He is fluent, or at least passable, in Caerdicci, D’Angeline, Hellene, Menekhetan, Illyrian, and Cruithne. He enjoys himself most when he is in the training yard. He joined the navy at the age of 14 and since he showed leadership qualities, Luke rose through the ranks quickly. This has led him to become a bit cocky.
Luke also feels great duty to his family, and is very close with his twin sister, Lizabeth. For his 19th natale, his grandparents sent him to Terre D’Ange and the City of Elua. Of course, to be efficient, his trip also coincided with Prince Ambrose’s return to Terre d'Ange. Before he left, he promised to write to Lizabeth continually.
Update: Luke returned to La Serenissima with the death of his grandmother, and returned to service on the seas.
NPCs
Name: Conte Lorenzo Pescaro del Leovanni
Age: 76
Appearance: Lorenzo is completely bald, and has the look of a fit man gone to seed. He dresses less practically than when he served in the navy, and has come to enjoy his comforts. He has brown eyes, and a bit of a stomach, and is stands at 5’11”.
History: Luke’s grandfather is a conservative military man. Given any prompting, and he will rave on about honour and duty, and everything the young people are doing wrong now a days. Lorenzo received the title of Conte del Leovanni from the Doge for his exemplary services in the navy, like his grandfather before him won the Pescaro family a spot in the Hundred Worthy Families. Lorenzo kept the Pescaro name to honour his father. Lorenzo keeps a strangle hold around the family he heads, and was the Sestieri Navis’ candidate in the Dogal elections after Cesare Stregazza died. Lorenzo is still very bitter over the loss and the fact his son never ran for Doge.
Name: Contesse Josette Pescaro del Leovanni
Age: 68 - now deceased
Appearance: Josette has silver-streaked brown hair, still full and curly, which she keeps tied at the nape of her neck. Her dark eyes are kind, and she has a slender figure, though she is only 5’2”.
History: A quiet woman, Josette is an interesting counter-point to her husband’s pomp. In reality, she runs the family, keeping political and social lives in order efficiently. Though one cannot see her hand, a few choice words to the right people can steer many lives. She is also at the head of the gossip mill in La Serenissma. Mostly though, she chooses not to use this power. Josette always had a soft spot for Alexander, and that was transferred to Luke when they took him in. She has little time for Lizabeth’s unladylike ways, but believes Luke can do no wrong.
Lizabeth Pescaro del Leovanni
Age: 19
Appearance: Lizabeth has the same black curls as Luke, which she wears to her waist, and sea green eyes. Her skin is slightly tanned from the hours she has stolen to get outside. She is slender and graceful, which has caught the eye of more than one suitor, and is fairly tall, at 5’10”.
History: Lizabeth is Luke’s almost identical twin. But while he conforms to his family’s wishes, she rebels. She does not want to fit into the mould of a proper young lady, though she shows a talent and love for music. Her greatest wish is to travel, but knows that she will never be allowed until Lorenzo dies and Luke takes over the family affairs. Amazingly, she has thus far successfully kept the suitors at bay, waiting for a chance at freedom. Luke sends her constant letters, trying to ease her wanderlust.
Trent Maurizio
Age: 21
Appearance: Trent has brown hair that gets in his brown eyes. He looks and moves like one not born of Terre D’Ange, but can be dashing when put to it. He stands at 6’0”, and is usually at Luke’s side.
History: Luke and Trent grew up together, and have always been best of friends. They contrived to serve on the same vessels and receive the same leaves. Luke even managed to talk Lorenzo into covering the cost for Trent to accompany him to the City of Elua. Trent is often practical when Luke isn’t, and fun when the situation allows.
