The ride was long, but after a tedious journey we made it to the city port and set up camp to leave the next day. In the wee hours of the morning daylight, the sounds of men woke me and I had ventured to watch them load our things on board.
I asked one of them about Finnian and they told me that he had arrived the day previous to us. I also found out that he had spent his time since drinking into the night, some how it didn't surprise me, but I hoped that that would bode well for Ferris.
It didn't take long for everything to be put onto the large ship and by mid morning they were loading passengers too. I went and found Ferris, and we began to board along with the others when it came to our turn.
"Have you ever been on a ship like this?" I asked Ferris as we walked toward the boat, a line of scattered people in front of us.

I had not slept well the night before, plagued with dreams. Well, perhaps nightmares might have been a better description. The usual dreams were mixed in with dead family members telling me not to leaven Alban soil. It was enough to make me uneasy.
But there had been no time to speak with Mairin before we were literally walking up to the gangplank of the ship we were to take. She was the only one I would trust with the interpretation of my dreams, but there would be plenty of time on the passage over to discuss them and so I tried to put it from my mind.
"Nothing this size. I've been on small fishing boats a time or two," I replied, my voice a tad more subdued than normal.

I had noticed Ferris' mood the moment we had met up, but had decided that I would try to keep his mind occupied on other things, since I could probably guess what it was that was making him seem so dark.
"Oh." I replied as I looked at the grand scale of the ship as we step onto the bough of the ship. "Well, this should be a real experience for you then." I said, giving him a little smile.

Despite the after affects of my night of drinking, I had been up early and began to help the crew load items and trunks onto the ship. It was a good chance to get to know my surroundings and the sailors, but also a good way to get out of port quicker. I was eager, excited, I had never traveled outside of home and this would be a once in a life time chance.
Once everything was aboard I stood at the prow of the ship and gazed out onto the open water, the direction we would be heading. Terre d'Ange. I hoped my D'Angeline would sufice to speak with others once I got there.
As I stood I glanced to the side and noticed two in particular boarding. One was a young man about my age, the other a dark woman that caught my attention right away. My grandfather had told me to watch out for the Cruarch's Heir and the Priestess that would be joining him. I hoped I had made the right assumption, more so because the woman boarding the ship was beautiful and I greatly wished to speak with her. I took a deep breath and wandered over to them.
"Morning!" I greated them in Cruithne once I was standing next to the pair, I looked first to the young man and then to the woman then I reached out and took her hand. "Finnian mac Ahern at your service my lady." I bowed over her hand and kissed it before releasing it. "And who are you my lovely dark goddess?" I asked with a charming grin.

"Yes it should be," I replied, and was about to say more when we were arrested by a tanned redhead with a smile that was far too charming to be trusted. But he announced himself to be the Eirian prince, so I hooked my thumbs in my belt instead of placing a hand on the butt of my sword's hilt, which was where it truly wanted to go. I stayed quiet as he threw himself at my companion. Besides, Maire had proven before that she could take care of herself when it came to overbearing... men.

I was a little shocked at the appearance of the young man at our side, more so when he took my hand and kissed it. I blushed a little, ducking my head as I tucked my hair behind my ear. It wasn't uncommon to have men thrust themselves apon me, but I had to admit that Fin was far more cuter then I had expected. "I am Mairin mab Halcyone your highness," I said as I curtsied, then looked to Ferris. "And this is Prince Ferris mab Eideann." I made sure to use titles and such, the Albans and Eirens were not much for ceremony, but it was always wise to start out on a polite foot. "I believe you were expecting us."

Ah! She blushed, how perfect! I would have mentioned it, made her blush more, painted her into a corner and then offered to show her to her rooms. But when she introduced herself and her companion, my flirtatious thoughts drifted away and I shook my head, my smile fading. "Forgive me, I have run away with myself. Some times I forget there are other things then just pretty girls and the drink." I bowed once more to Mairin and then gave a more proper bow, going to one knee for the future Cruarch. "Ferris," I said before rising and offering my hand. "I believe we've met once before. It was a pleasure then, and a pleasure now." From what I had been told about Ferris, he was a lot like me, except he had the death of his family members weighing on him, I reckoned he needed some one like me in his life, and I reckoned I should make him a friend in the process.

I shook his hand, another good activity for my hand to keep it away from my sword hilt. After examining him as he flirted with Mairin, I realized that we had known each other when we were much younger, during the rebellion. He had been old enough then to join in the fighting, I remembered that I had been jealous of him for that. We'd all grown up since then.
"Indeed. I believe that you preferred Fin back then. Do you still?" I asked with a polite smile.

I nodded. "Aye, you remember correctly, thank you." I said letting a smile to match his spred across my face. "Well, it shall be a fair journey. It seems the weather has been holding. They've put me in the same room as you Ferris, and Mairin, your room is next to ours. Shall I show you to them?" I asked the pair.

"Please," I replied. I was just thankful that he hadn't suggested the rooming situation have him and Maire sharing.

I was content to let the boys converse, knowing that they would probably have more to speak about. I also didn't want to incure the wrath of Fin's flirtations, as it seemed fairly obvious what sort of man he was.
When he spoke of rooms and leading us there I smiled and nodded. "Yes, I think it would be a good idea to get acquainted with ship before we set sail." I said smiling as I looked between Ferris and Fin.

I smiled a bit wider as Mairin spoke and then turned slightly to offer my arm. "My lady?" I asked by way of polite invitation. "Perhaps I should share a room with you instead, that way I can tell you all the ins and outs of this fine vessel." I teased with a broad grin.

"And perhaps you should wait until you've known her for at least an hour before suggesting such things," I said. My voice was calm, but my eyebrow was raised as I looked at him.

I turned my gaze to Ferris and looked at him for a moment, protective? Well yes, but why may hap a sister he sees her, may hap more. Best watch my step. I laughed then as I looked at him. "Not to worry friend, I was merely jesting." I said with a hearty grin, the comment stored away, but I allowed the possible tension the moment could have created to roll away. I looked to Mairin, offering my arm to her still.

I was both surprised and not by Ferris' words. I knew him well enough to know where his words came from, but I had been a bit surprised at the fact that he was so quick to say something. "Not to worry Ferris, I think I could take him if he tried anything." I said, trying, like Fin, to ease the moment. I gave Ferris a gentle smile and then looked to Fin, taking his arm as I did.
"I hope that the water will be calm, I'm not sure if I'll get sea sick or not." I commented to Fin, trying to move onto another topic.

I smiled back at Mairin, content for now, seeing how Fin had backed down. Maire was held a special place in my heart, and I wasn't going to let anyone show her disrespect. I hooked my thumbs in my sword belt and let Fin and Maire lead the way.
