There was a little troupe from Eglantine going around to the different Houses in our annual concert series. Today was Camellia, and as always, I had to make sure my face didn't give away how awestruck I was. The Night Court was a beautiful to begin with, but perfection is a difficult thing to achieve.
We were setting up in one of the larger salons, where adepts and guests were free to enter and listen and watch. I had warmed up before we left that morning, and was humming under my breath as I went through the piano-forte music, putting it into the order I wanted.

I had heard there was to be a concert and thus I left my room to make my way down to the salon early to get a good seat. I was dressed in loose fitting breeches and a silken shirt that was partly open down the front. It was my relaxing clothes but they still fit me well and showed off my masculine angles that I did workouts each morning to keep.
I settled into a chair keeping my posture perfect and I left an open seat for Aurianne who was supposed to be along to join me shortly. My warm dark eyes sparkling as I looked about the room and took in the group from Eglantine.

I always loved concerts, but when they were from Eglantine I especially looked forward to it. As I made my way into one of the acoustic rooms, I looked for Eddie and found him sitting with an open seat next to him. "Why hello," I said, giving him a happy smile. "Is this seat taken?"

We were set up, and now we just had to wait a few minutes for any latecomers. I mentally ran through the order again and again until I was sure I had it. I made myself sit down, not far from two other adepts, both as beautiful as anything else I had seen in their House.

I smiled at Aurianne "Actually it is by you who I saved it for." I patted it and then looked up toward the performers. "This should be really nice." I noticed the young Eglatine then who had sat to wait not far from us and I gave her a warm smile.

My smile grew a little as I sat, and I thanked him in a quiet, mannerly voice. "I don't doubt it will be," I said, my eyes shining a little as I looked across the performers. "They've yet to put on a concert here that I didn't like."
I glanced up and inevitably followed his vision to another, one, by the looks of it, was Eglantine herself. I gave her a smile as well, as welcoming as I could before unconsciously straightening my skirts.

I smiled back to them. "Hello. I'm Keaira nó Eglantine." We still had a few minutes, especially since I wasn't on first, and there was warmth in both their gazes.

I smiled more broadly "Hello I am Edwyn nó Camellia and it is nice to met you." I left Aurianne to introduce herself. "I take it you are one of the performers?"

I gave my name after Eddie did, and as he spoke I merely remained quiet, waiting with patience for her answer. I was curious - I'd only been able to meet one of the performers a few times, and every time it intrigued me more.

I nodded in confirmation. "It's very nice to meet you both. And yes, I've come to sing." I said with a friendly smile.

"Oh that is lovely" I beamed "I am really looking forward to hearing you." I looked to Aurianne with a warm smile as I continued "Some of my sisters say I really do not get out enough." Then looking back I added "Maybe, if you are ever performing someplace else you can let us know and we can go see you there as well?"

I smiled at the thought of girls surrounding him, trying to drag him outside. "Well, I'll be kept busy with this series, Camellia is the first House on our miniature tour."

My face turned a little towards amusement as Edwyn glanced at me, though I tried holding it in check as I glanced back at Keaira, sneaking her a shrug as if to say I didn't know what he was talking about.
I stayed silent on the rest as well, content to listen for the moment, wondering what it must be like to be able to travel to perform for others.

“Seems it is our lucky night then.” The young lady was charming really and I found that relaxing. Then my gaze slid back to Aurianne and I tilted my head trying to make sure and include her as that was the proper and perfect thing to do “Why so quiet over there? Plotting against me?” I was teasing and I am sure it showed in the lightness of my tone.

I watched their banter, ignoring the slightly lonely feeling. I didn't wish any ill will on the obviously long-time friends with my jealousy. So I simply smiled.

"Never, sweet Eddie," I said with a teasing smile. "Besides, you know I'd never openly admit to it."
Mirth was openly in my face as I turned to the Eglantine adept; she truly was pretty. Camellia, I thought, would likely have taken her in had she come here rather than her current House.
"Do you do any skits or performances in Mont Nuit as well? I've seen some, sometimes, though seemingly impromptu on the streets."

"Of course my dear sibling" I responded in a teasing tone to Aurianne. "You are the model of perfect innocence." I was teasing clearly as I turned my attention back to Keaira. I let Aurianne finish before I added as well. "And feel free to sit with us if you have time before you must go on."

"I do have a few minutes, thank you very much Edwyn." I replied with an honest smile. I then replied to his Housemate. "And yes, I love to go out to Mont Nuit. Our Dowayne often sends us out in groups when we need to get out, or have pieces prepared to perform, but no venue. It's always fun, for we start branching out from the repertoire and having a wonderful time."

"Oh," I responded with a growing smile, "that sounds like a lot of fun. I couldn't imagine the impromptu of it, or setting up on the side of a street for whomever passed by. But still..." I said, thinking on it, "it does sound like fun. Is there anything in particular you enjoy doing?"

I watched as the two ladies chatted and found I was greatly enjoying all of this. The idea of impromptu concerts on Mont Nuit was wonderfully appealing. I listened close to see what music Keaira favored as my own tastes were wide ranging.

"There's very little I don't like." I replied with a little smile. "Though I must admit, I love to study from the bards that come in from Alba and Eire, the ollamh. Their art is beautiful."

I smiled at Keaira’s words “Mayhap when your marque is complete you should consider traveling there to study in person?” I was assuming on her marque and I hoped she did not take offense but the lady did seem rather young to me. Of course most did anymore including one I was finding myself thinking of very often.

I didn't take offense to his words. I didn't tend to speak of my time I needed to spend at Eglantine before I could leave. "That is the plan." I confirmed with another smile.

I nodded my head "Good to have plans. I have been reading a bit on Alba recently and find the topic terribly interesting."

I reclined and listened, not bothered by being silent through the exchange of the two of them. It was relaxing, almost, being able to simply sit and watch, not trying to keep someone pleased, though when Edwyn spoke of Alba I couldn't help but smile. "It does sound interesting," I added almost quietly, though no less pleasantly. "Kriti too, for the beaches."

"Kriti and Illyria and Menekhet and the lands beyond..." I sighed happily. "Oh, I think I will love to travel."

I smiled at that and shook my head “Sounds like you had better see if you can sign on with a caravan. Then you can travel and get paid for it at the same time. Of course lets hope you do not get sea sick either as there are some big waters in there as well.” I was mostly jesting and I really hoped it showed in my rich tones.

"A bard rarely has many travel expenses." I replied with a smile, just before Camile's fingers plucked the first notes on the harp. There was still idle chatter running through the small group that had come for entertainment.

"I see your point" I added and then looked as the first note on the harp was plucked. "I hope we are not keeping you" I asked as my attention turned back. "If you are inclined we can get together after the performance to chat more." I gave a large, warm smile "Though I cannot speak for Aurianne."

I was comfortable in listening as the two chatted on, but when Eddie spoke of talking to Keaira further after the concert and not being able to speak for me, I outright grinned. "I wouldn't want to impose," I said sweetly, though with a great deal of tease laced in my voice, before continuing in a more sedate one. "I do have a class after the concert is through, sadly. I wish I could join you." And I did, in all good truth and honesty.
