Lessandrie,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I must admit, I have thought about you quite a lot since the fête, and truly wish to see you again. Would you be available in two nights for dinner? There is a restaurant in the Temple District called Casa Abuelita that I heard is quite lovely. My brother says it’s a quieter place, where we may converse and practice our languages. I do hope you are free, if not in two nights then at some other time.
Awaiting your reply eagerly, Fydor Romanov

Lessandrie,
Alexei just told me of the spreading sickness, I had not been aware of it before. The sickness has not yet touched our household, which is something that I am thanking the gods for, and praying that they will spare us further. It saddens me that it makes seeing you more difficult, for I am afraid I cannot in good conscious visit alone. Innocent it might be, and truly I believe your intentions and am not offended, but not all would see it that way and some of their opinions matter to me a great deal.
To convince you that my intentions are true as well, I have enclosed a small token for you. You spoke of snow with such longing that it seemed fitting that I send you a scene of just that.
I truly wish that the gods move this sickness on quickly, not just to save those who might suffer, but so that I might see you again in the flesh. Until that time, it would be my utmost pleasure to continue to correspond with you, and trust my memories to keep your face fresh in my mind.
I pray the gods keep you well, FydorWrapped in gauze and leather: Containing a hair barrette:

Lessa,
Separated as we are, your words still touch me, though truly I need no gift in return. The thought of your enjoyment is more than enough.
As for pastimes, I’m afraid that the only thing I was ever adept at was getting into trouble. I enjoy many things, including hunting, but I’m afraid my siblings were always better at them. Alexei has no problem beating me in the sparing ring, Sergei can track anything it seems. And before my sisters, I seem even less accomplished. But perhaps, sometime in the future, we can go out to the royal forests and set your falcons alight. For I would love to see them soar, and to see you.
And I hope that someday, my D’Angeline becomes good enough that I might start reading your vast quantities of books. Until then, I am a bit shy of reading matierial, though I suppose I could always borrow one from Svetlana’s vast collection. She is the true reader of our family, and her trunks were the heaviest.
But I must go, as supper is being called. I will wait for your reply with anticipation. Fydor

Lessa,
Life now reminds me much of home in the winter, our outside activities curtailed, and only each other to keep the boredom at bay. But I have a secret in your letters, and they are a great help in these times. My siblings, Olga especially, want to ask what I am truly doing when I sit in the study with my chalkboard and dictionary. I have told them I am studying. It is true, these letters are better than any book. But it is also not true, because I hope for more once this sickness has passed.
I hope you do not think me too forward. I also hope that you do not think that your words are silly. I love to read them.
The thought of something wrought by your hand fills me with joy and anticipation. I have to sometimes remind myself of patience, but then, I do that many times in a week. It does not always work.
I would love to go hunting with you. If I was not in good spirits before, I am in good spirits with that thought. When should we do this?
Wanting to see your smile, Fydor

Lessa,
I do not know about technical, I have never studied art. But your painting is truly magnificent. Right now it is sitting on my desk, but I will have it framed and hung in my room. Now I really want to see your ocean, and you. I can barely wait the three days. Where shall we meet?
Of my family, there is much I could say. I have six siblings. Vladmir is the oldest, he is still in Ruskovia with his new wife and my parents. He takes himself very seriously. We do not get along very well.
Alexei is the next oldest. He is terribly clever and always looking out for the rest of us. He has my greatest respect, and if I ever need help with a word in D’Angeline, he gives it to me or one very close to what I want. I think he is amused by my letter writing, for I have asked him for a very odd selection of words.
Olga is next. I always thought that she is like Ruskovia. Very beautiful, but feels cold if you do not know how to dress. She does the most wonderful embroidery, and we bicker over who gets her next shirt. She still has not really settled in the City. I think she misses home.
After Olga comes one of my other sisters, Svetlana. She loves books, as I wrote in another letter. She can seem very far away, like her thoughts are very deep and important. But she is always kind and sweet. I usually call her Lana.
Sergei is next. He loves hunting and horses. He is only two years older than me, so we jest a lot. He also came to the Beltane fête, but we parted before I met you. I think you will like him, but not too much I hope. (Excuse me for my little jest.)
My last sibling is my sister Antsalia, who I call Lia. She is our musician, she plays the violin and the violoncello. She also has a loyal psovoi, which Alexei says you call a wolfhound. Kessa can be as fierce as Lia when her music is taken away.
And then there is me, the youngest. I would love to hear more of your family, for it seems odd to me not to have more siblings than fingers on a hand.
Until our time with the falcons, Fydor

Dear Lessa,
We will meet where you will. At home I helped sometimes to train some eagles, but I never had one. So it will be just your bird flying, and so your choice on where to spend our time in the forest. When should I pick you up?
Indeed, my family can be quite noisy and difficult to deal with as a whole. There are just so many of us, it sometimes gives me a headache. I have always felt a little pity for anyone trying to meet us all at once. But do not worry, they will like you. You are not so shy as you say, just modest. And that is a good thing.
I too would like to meet your father and brother. When it is appropriate of course. Your brother sounds very fun.
I am counting the hours until I will see you. These letters have been a very good distraction, and has helped me spend all this time inside. It seems I chose a bad time to come to the City, except I’m glad I met you.
Until tomorrow, Fydor

My dearest Lessa,
I could not forget some of the things that we spoke about the other night. You make me think many beautiful things, but I need time and my dictionary to translate them. I hope that you do not too much laugh at my words, and that you also like my other gift. I want for you to have your dreams.
~FydorInside a box, on a separate piece of parchment, carefully folded atop a gown: Your hair is like gold flame Shimmering in the afternoon sun. I yearn to see it In the glory of Koliada’s dawn, And the softening light Of Tabiti’s dusk. And I pray that one day I might see it In Jarovit’s moonlight where It streams through An unmasked, forgotten window. I yearn for its every shade For it means your presence.

My love, I arrived in Ruskovia yesterday after an uneventful trip. It is very nice to see my family and old friends, but I miss you terribly. You may come as quickly as you like, I know that I have been counting the days until I see you again. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms, and to introduce you to my family. They are eager to meet you.
I am sorry for the shortness of his missive, but your Ruskovian is already better than my D'Angeline, and if I finish it here, I can get it on the next ship sailing for you.
Miss you and love you, Your Fydor

Written in Ruskovian
My love, Your words give me so much joy. I will begin the preparations for our wedding immediately, and enlist the help of Olga. She is a superb organizer, and knows many of the people we would need the services of. Oh love, I am even more excited to see you now, though I didn't know it to be possible. Do you have any requests that I may pass on before you arrive? I do not know if this will even reach you in time, but I wish our day to be perfect in your eyes.
Is your family able to come? I know that your father usually looks after things for you if you are away, but is he able to make the journey? If not, you must think on who you would like to give you away, as it is an important part of the Ruskovian ceremony. I do not know how important it is in Terre d'Ange, but from what I have learned in my time there, I think it might not be as important. I hope your father is able to come, but I thought I should mention it if you do need to think about it.
I can barely wait for your arrival, I think of you so very often. I love you, and I miss you very much. I will be waiting for you on the docks.
Keep well, for you hold my heart, Fydor

My love, I have told my father of your arrival, and he is looking forward to meeting you and your father. I am also looking forward to meeting your family. You have spoken of them so often that I feel as if I almost know them already.
I have been imagining our wedding day, and how beautiful you will look. There will never be a more beautiful bride in our chapel. Olga has been working hard getting everything organized, including making me my outfit. I an looking forward to seeing what she comes up with, of all my sisters she is the best at embroidery. She acted disappointed when she learned that you were bringing your own dress, but I heard later that she was glad that she had more time to work on my garments. So thank you for making things easier on her.
I have been spending all my time with Father's advisor's, in preparation for our wedding. I do not mind, for it is a wonderful opportunity to learn. I never learned much about international politics, for no one figured I needed it, being the youngest. But I want to help you when you need it.
I will stop there, for I do not know if this will even reach you before you leave. But I wanted to tell you that I love you so very much, and I am waiting with baited breath to head down to the docks. I wear your locket everyday, and your bracelet when I think it will not get ruined. They comfort me when I miss you.
With all of my heart, Fydor
