Relief flooded my conscience as Fisher opened the carriage door and stepped out, offering me his hand. If he had noticed my blush he had graciously let me recover without a word from him. I took his hand greatfully and followed him into the market before us. A glorious array of color met my gaze as I looked at all the vendors with their various wares lined down the market place.
"Oh, this is wonderful!" I exclaimed, the beautiful shops all cloistered together with no particular design in mind, each boasting brasiers to ward off the cold and several selling baked goods and other small delights to warm the stomachs of eager customers.
"I had forgotten how lovely this place was during the winter," I said. The vibrant parade of colors was irrisistable and I stepped forward to peruse the first shop on the street with wide eyes and a child-like expression of joy on my face.

I just watched her for a moment, enjoying the sight of her unbridled joy.
"It does seem to take on a festive air during the winter," I said, smiling and stepping over to where she was.

"Yes it does," I answered, just barely catching his comment with all the voices and music swirling around the market. This vendor had belts and scarves, fur muffs and coats, capes and boots and all sorts of leather and fur crafted items for sale that it dazzled me to see the varried selection.
"How are you this fine afternoon, my lady?" The shop owner inquired, hoping to engage one of us in a conversation and perhaps make a sale.
"Oh, just wonderful," I replied noncommitally, my eyes fixed on her wares.
"Good to hear," She said, seeing I was still browsing, "If you have any questions, feel free to ask." She smiled.
"Thank you," I said, glancing at her briefly and flashing a half smile before returning my attention to the fur lined coat I was admiring.
Turning my attention to Fisher I said, "Isn't this lovely? It is so unique, the silver fur lining the fabric of the coat and accenting the gray of the leather." I was simply enraptured by the soft doe skin and silver fox fur of the coat, but I was just admiring it as I had come to buy new gowns and didn't really have any need for a new coat, but it was simply stunning in its beauty and I had to at least touch it and see how it felt.

"Very lovely," I said, stepping closer to look at the coat. I reached around her slightly, my fingers brushing the back of her hand before landing on the fur lining of the coat. "So soft and beautiful."
I was close enough I could feel the heat of her body and breath in her delicate scent. I stayed there for a few heartbeats longer than I needed to, and then stepped back.
Stepping away, I moved to the other side of the display and held up a velvet coat lined with the same silver fox fur.
"This one matches your eyes," I said, showing her the ocean blue velvet.

My heart skipped a beat at the touch of his hand and the sound of his voice almost in my ear was very intimate, his presence enveloping me in a very subtle embrace and I had to hold back a sigh as he lingered for a moment before casually moving away from me. 'Gods in heaven, did he know what kind of an effect he had on me, being so close?' I thought, hopelessly trying to rein in my emotions.
I looked at the beautiful coat he held up and was glad it was there to hold my gaze as I wasn't sure I could hold his at the moment. "It's wonderful," I replied breathlessly, drinking in the rich blue color of the velvet and smiling in apreciation, "Simply exquisite." I said, not meaning the coat.
I saw another such color out of the corner of my eye and followed it with my gaze, "Ah and it has a muff to match," I said, picking it up from the table and sticking my hands inside to feel the warmth of the fur, and had to stop myself from thinking about how warm he could make me and so I placed it back in its given spot before looking back to him, my breathing somewhat back to normal and my expression easy once more.
"This place has never failed to impress me, and no matter when I am able to come I find that there are more and more things that captivate my attention and I usually find myself wanting them because of it." I said, my thoughts far from the coat and muff I was admiring.
I knew that it was only a matter of time before I wouldn't be able to bridle my passions and keep a straight face around him. The drink I had at lunch hadn't had much of an effect on me, but Fisher's very presence certainly was begining to have an intoxicating quality to it that more than exceeded any other I had known and I was still almost breathless because of it.

"They do have a rather enticing selection," I agreed as I watched her slip her hands into the muff and then put the item back.
The soft scent of her still lingered around me, and I found it most enjoyable. With a bit of an effort, I drew my eyes away from her and back to the selection.
"What sort of gowns were you looking for?" I asked her, letting my hands slide over a rather lovely wine silk evening gown.

"I was hoping to find a few new colors to offset those I have already." I said, eyeing the wine colored gown as he touched it. Stepping around to the dresses I took a look at all the colors that greeted me.
"These are lovely," I commented smiling, "I think these are wonderful." I said, selecting a luxurious sappire blue gown and pulling it out to look at it further. The cut was similar to one I had but the color was beyond beautiful. I rarely found anything that could match the intense blue of my eyes and this seemed an almost perfect match.

I turned to look at the dress she had pulled out.
"Oh my, that would look stunning on you," I said appreciatively. Stepping closer, I caressed the material of the skirt.
"Very well made too," I said, noticing the nearly invisible stitching on the seams.
I leaned in close enough so that my lips brushed her ear as I almost whispered, "If you wear that dress out, I would wager you have a host of men vying to have you out of that dress."

I half froze as his lips brushed my ear and blushed furiously at his whispered comment, but I enjoyed his closeness even more and ignored my racing heart and wild emotions and replied, "You think so?" I said, somewhat breathlessly and turning my head to look at him, my face inches from his.

"I know so," I said in the same low tone. I brought my hand up and lightly let my fingers draw across her cheek. "That dress was made for you, it would be a sin to let anyone else wear it."

"I see," I whispered, forcing the breath to come to say just a few words. I was lost in the scent of him being near to me and I thought I might not be able to draw another breath if he continued to stay so close to me.
I forced myself to take another breath as he touched my cheek and let out a sigh of contentment instead, closing my eyes and hoping he wouldn't notice that I was suddenly week in the knees. I opened my eyes to see him still close and tried to steady myself and not fall into him.

The urge to kiss her was nearly irresistible, but I was not one for public displays of affection. Smiling, I stepped back just enough so that the cool winter air could flow between us.
"Would you like me to hold that for you while you keep looking?" I asked her.

I had felt like he was going to kiss me but he had withdrawn mysteriously and so I was at a loss for a reply for a moment as I eagerly inhaled a welcome breath of fresh air, but then I replied with a thankfull smile, "Yes, of course." And hoped that I would be able to regain my composure quickly.

Taking the dress from her, I carefully laid it over my arm.
"What other colors were you looking for?" I asked, trying to focus on the clothes. I knew there would be another, more private chance to kiss her before we went our separate ways, and I would take it.

"Umm, nothing too dark, I have several of them all ready. Light colors, bright colors, anything that really catches the eye..." I said gazing at the gowns in front of me somewhat distractedly, the color of his eyes swimming in my vision, their deep intensity tugging at me. I shook off the desire I felt to be close to him again and tried to focus on the task at hand.
Gaining control over my emotions once again I choose another gown and picked up a silver one that was rather form fitting with a sliming line and a beautiful sleek look to it. It had absolutely no back to it, thus eliminating the sleeves but it was exquisite.
"Oh, this is beautiful, too." I said, admiring the modest skirt and black embroidered detaling all over the last six inches or so of the hem and trailing around the neck like vines. It was perfect for showing off a completed mark and I grinned thinking of how lovely I would look like in it, showing off my marque when it was finished.

"Yes, it is," I agreed, though I had barely looked at the dress, my eyes were still on Genevie and it wasn't the dress at all that I was commenting about. There was an air about her that was so full of life and joy, it was rather amazing. I could see why she was doing so well at Orchis.

I looked up at him to see if he approved of the dress and found him staring at me. I continued to smile but tilted my head to the side, realizing he hadn't even seen the dress.
"Are you commenting on the dress or the person holding it?" I asked, grinning even wider and giggling at him. He seemed so enraptured with me that I almost didn't want to bring him back to reality. It was nice to be wanted for something other than my skills; to be liked for myself was a rare gift and I found it wonderful to see it in his gaze.
"It is really lovely if you actually look at it, Fisher." I said, meaning the dress but still grinning from catching him staring.

My eyes slid to the dress and then back to her. "The dress is beautiful too," I agreed, smiling. "How many dresses were you looking for?"

"I was hoping to be able to purchase five or six, actually." I said, my smile contemplative,"I had a very generous patron recently that left me a gift good enough to pay both the House a good sum of money and lime my marque a full three inches or more. He left me a card also, giving the name and address of his benefactor in the city to leave a sum open for me to use on the town." I conceeded, grinning and shrugging my shoulders. "So I have decided to spend it on my wardrobe." I finished, and with a flurish I twirled around holding the gown against my chest.
Laughing out loud I completed a few quick circles before comming to a stop, my cheeks flushed with color and my breath comming in quick bursts. I felt as if I had never been happier in my life. An outing on the town and a wonderful young man to spend my time with; I was in heaven, or something like it at least and I didn't want it to end.
I looked up at Fisher, my eyes locked on his face and stared into his eyes, "I have no intention of spending it all at one shop, though," I said, "So let's have the lady here mark these as sold and I'll stop by later for fitting."

Wondering, in the way adepts did when hearing of the extreme generosity of a patron to another adept, just what she had done to earn such a large patron's gift, I smiled and laughed nevertheless at her antics.
"That sounds like a wonderful plan," I said, handing the dress I was holding to the proprietor.

I grinned happily, telling the proprietor I would stop by in a few days time for the gowns to be fitted and then turned to see the entire district a wash of color befor me. "Ah, this is what I love about this place. The colors, the sights, the smells." I said, taking in a deep breath of the cool winter air mingled with all the delicious scents of the foods.
Opening my eyes I took in all the colors that greeted me and perused a few nearby shops to see if there was anything worth looking at. There were so many things to see that it would probably take days to see everything, but that was the wonder of it all. That one could spend all day sight seeing and still come back again and find new things.
A particular shop caught my eye and I adjusted my direction accordingly. "This one looks promising," I said, indicating a galantly decorated shop boasting row upon row of merchandise, beautifully arrayed to catch the light at every angle. "Let's see what they have in store for us." I suggested, heading that way.

Taking a couple long strides, I caught up with her and slipper her arm through mine.
"I wouldn't want us to get separated," I told her, grinning. It was an excuse to touch her, and a rather flimsy one that I was certain she would see through.
