Dressed in russet, green and gold, my carriage pulled up to Lessa's town home and I exited making a jaunty stride toward the house. Knocking on the door I waited for either Lessa or a maid to answer.

My hair- it was always my hair that gave me such problems. Still, at least I'd made a decision- the amythest of my gown was rich and the lines, with the back open except for ribbon ties that spanned the entirety of it, something new that I hoped would make me feel much more confident than I naturally did before. My curls were somewhat tamed into a twist and adorned with small pins with pearl and amythest flowers at the ends. I would look well enough.
A knock at the door and I added the final touch of some gloss to my lips- then, I was standing and making my way out of my boudoir and downstairs to meet Simon.

"Vicomte Valais, please come it. Her lady Duchesse will be right down." I smiled at the maid who let me in.
"Thank you." I said politely, a small box in my breast pocket making me nervous. A gift for Lessa that I hoped she would like.

Things had gotten busier after Midwinter and I'd not had as much time to spend with Simon as I would have liked, which saddened me- but at least I had this evening to make fond memories with. carefully but with a certain grace I made my way downstairs to where he stood, a slightly flush on my cheeks though I smiled to meet his gaze. "hello," I said softly, stepping closer.

I smiled, well beamed when I saw Lessa. Things had seemed so bleak after seeing Riva that I was scared I would lose Lessa too. I hoped I could make the night worthy of rememberance.
"Lessa." I breathed. "You look radiant." I moved toward her and took her hand placing a lingering kiss on the top.

"Thank you," I replied softly, a slight, pleased flush coming to my cheeks as my heart soared. "You look very handsome yourself." I'd missed him with being so busy.

I chuckled. "I'm nothing in comparision to you." I said pulling the box from my breast pocket. "He..here, this is for you." I stammered as I handed over the box. It was a crushed velvet box in purple, a ring box, inside a faceted garnet wrought in gold. Beautiful but unassuming and unique. Just like her.

Smiling, eyes wide with suprise, I took the box and opened it, then felt my eyes well. "It's lovely," I told him softly and with great feeling and sincerity. "I love it." Unable to stop myself I wrapped my arms around him quickly, hugging him tight. "And I love you," I whispered.

I exhaled the breath I had forgotten I was holding when she smiled. Her arms around me were such warmth and I wrapped my own arms around her. "I love you too Lessa." I whispered against her hair happy that she liked the gift.

Smiling as I sighed in happiness I relaxed slightly, standing close but no longer taking the chance of wrinkling my gown beyond all repair. "We should go to the party or I'm thinking I may never want to leave at all," I told him. "Having you close is too nice to give up easily."

I chuckled understanding what she meant, I almost didn't care if we went to the fete. "I agree." I said hesitently but reached down and took her hand linking it into my arm. "Theres always time later." I said in a wry tone.

Nodding in understanding and reluctant agreement I let him lead me outside to the carriage, having slipped my new ring on in the space of a moment. "I have a gift for you as well, but it may have to wait a couple days," I told him.

I smiled as I helped her into the carriage then followed sitting next to her. "Oh really," I said wryly as the carriage pulled forward. "A surprise?"

With a shy expression but still smiling I nodded. "I hope you like it," I replied. "And as long as the weather holds clear I can show it to you whenever you like." I just barely leaned against him, worried about rumpling our clothing but wanting to keep as close as possible.

"An outdoor surprise." I mused. "Well then I think I'd like this surprise as soon as I can." I smiled leaning over and placing a kiss on her forehead.

I leaned into her touch but sobered at her question and sighed. "I...I don't really want to talk about Riva if that's what you're doing." I said running my hand over her hand.

"I did mean that, but other things as well," I replied slowly. "I'm sorry, I didn't know." My own mood was sobered by his but I continued to caress him as I could.

His lips brushed mine and I sighed happily against his mouth before kissing him again. "Thank you," I told him, gaze full of sincerity.
