"Remind me not to anger an adept then, for fear of what may be lurking behind the sweet exterior." I smiled, looking at him thoughtfully. "I can understand that, though; the need to be strong while at the same time pleasing a stranger. I just have never had to do it in quite the same fashion."
He was interesting, sparking me to think while apparently not meaning to at the same time. With his jest on patrons I laughed softly again, bowing my head slightly in a teasing deference. "I never doubted your ability to pull patrons in, of course. Why, I wouldn't doubt if you just finished with one a few hours ago."
I was teasing slightly, but at the same time honest - I really wouldn't be all that surprised if that was the case.

Smiling, I shook my head. "If only I were so lucky," I replied with a sigh as though languishing. "Perhaps someone pretty will come sweep me away." With that I gave her a significant wink, though mostly in jest.

"Sweep you away?" I repeated, giving his seated form an obvious, if jesting, look over before lifting my arm to look at it. "I could probably figure a way to herd you back to Orchis with a broom, but I don't know about sweeping you anywhere..."
I grinned, my fingers recurling around the ale glass as I glanced around the room. "Lets see... Ah, her - she looks like she could likely sweep anyone anywhere." And indeed she did; I gestured discretely towards a burly sort of woman, her hair tied up in a loose bun, jovial, ruddy cheeks holding the expression of laughter.

"I've had worse," I told her good-naturedly, cocking my head sideways as I looked at the woman she indicated. "besides," I said in a jesting, lofty tone, "I didn't mean 'sweep' literally."

"Oh," I said, feigning an abashed look. "I apologize in that case."
Jules was more than a little fun, and I was silently thankful for my driver to have dropped me off here rather than elsewhere. He helped me keep my mind off of other matters, ones that made me apprehensive or irritated, and I was ever thankful for it.
Setting my ale on the bartop, I looked back across the fastly-filling tavern, glad of the rising noise that I wouldn't be heard much beyond Jules' ears. "If you had to pick someone to watch in here, who would it be?" There were interesting folk around, and I truly was curious for his response.

"All of them, were I so observant," I replied, looking at her curiously. "They all have tales to tell. What about you?"q

"I don't know," I said, tilting my head slightly. "Mayhap the woman I pointed out to you - she honestly looked intriguing to me; she made me think of another I've seen before." I glanced at him, smiling softly, though amusement was still bright in my eyes.

"Oh really? And who, pray tell, does she remind you of?" I asked curiously, smiling at her expression.

"A woman I've seen twice before; once at the Generous Patron, another time at the coronation banquet." I sobered some with the references, though the memories held a lot of laughter in themselves and I drew on it. "She had.. and probably still has, a fond liking for my companion, and was blatant about it."

"Oh, that can be awkward," I agreed. "But you're much more attractive than she is, and fun as well, I'd wager." Her expression had fallen slightly and my smile grew gentler. "I'd bet your companion was rushing back to you for saving in any case."

I laughed as he spoke of Gil rushing back to me to save him; the image of it was too priceless not to. "He never left me, truth be told," I said, my smile brightening at Jules, hoping to keep the mood lighter between us. "She frightened him more than anything - I think it was the licking she did to her lips that did him in."
I grinned, then reached out to take a drink of my ale. "What about you? I don't doubt you've been pursued by a few women that were... less than one would hope, with your handsome face and lovely personality." And he truly did have both of them, among other intriguing aspects.

"Unfortunately if I did attract someone who completely disgusted me I couldn't get away save running, like my friend Keegan does," I replied in a mock-regretful tone. "With the humor bit I could insult them and they'd just think I was joking. Such as the life of a comic, jester and all around funnyman."

I laughed, sitting back in my seat. "Oh, the worries of a wanted man," I said teasingly. "What a terrible life it must be, to be lusted after and unable to convince the seeker otherwise."

"I know, I'm so put-upon," I said with a sigh, wiping mock tears from my eyes. "Oh, to be plain and ignored."

I held a smile of amusement, tilting my head slightly at him. "Ah, I don't think you'd ever fit the category of being plain, Jules. And from what I can tell, you'd drum up a few laughs if you ever did find yourself being ignored."
