I felt my skin creep under me at the thought of release with him. It wasn't all bad, in fact, it was a rather sensual feeling. He was like a serpent. A beautiful serpent, with silky, shiny scales that beckoned to be touched, that could be a source of delight, of bliss, but that would also, at his whim, choke its prey without pity. He had the aura of sensuality and danger – that was enticing, but at the same time… there were things I would never be willing to undergo.
“In training, I am more than willing to take my share of bruises and bumps,” I told him. “But in other places, I take harm from no-one.” My gaze was firm and held thoroughly – this was something I would not compromise about. I was new at this game, I had only had a handful of lovers, all gentle and passionate. I was willing to be brave, and he was attractive enough – but I was also concerned about this, for I knew, oh too well, that first experiences can be scarring. After all, I kept love at bay for a reason.
“Trust is a beautiful present, hardly won, and easily lost,” I told him in earnest. I was starting to consider trying - but he needed to show me that the aura of danger that surrounded him was in his complete control - and that his mastery would be at his hand, to make sure he did not lose my trust.

I folded my fingers together and rested them on the table “Ah trust is a thing that takes time. Much time and patience, I feel patience is a skill that is often overlooked in our society.” There was a reason after all that Shahrizai children learned to sit for hours while our shimmering black/blue locks were intricately braided. The instruction of patience just like the reasons that Shahrizai played games that had a more dangerous edge to them than most. We learned at an early age that we are all predators and that predators must walk carefully around one another less both end up dead or seriously injured. I then inclined my head at my comely table mate while wondering once more if all her hair matched or even if she had other hair. “And I like to think I am civilized enough to be tolerated in mixed company. Even if it amuses me to betimes make others wonder if I in fact am.”

I laughed lightly, winking at him as I replied, "I thought as much - you seem to me to be of the playful kind," I told him, my voice holding a small inch of regret. I had not meant to hurt him, or insult him. But I had never met one of his clan before, and his name had scared me a little.
"But you are right, it does take time. But sometimes, one is lucky enough to meet someone spontaneous and open, who gives their trust on a silver platter, with a little temerity," I added, my eyes sparkling with mirth.

I slowly leaned forward and breathed in her ear as I whispered “The only way to know if that has happened is to test the meeting soon. What do you think?” And with that I leaned back smiling broadly and watching her like a cat might eye a particularly tasty canary.

His whispered voice was low and deep like the call for beyond, and the wind of his breath as intimate as a feather's touch. I shivered a little, repressing a small whimper of desire. But Elua, I had to be proper, I was to be Jaiden Liatris' pupil, I was a peer, not a harlot, as I tried to remind myself.
Had I had not a small inkling of pride, I may have told him, Here and now, but I did, and so I told him, "Why do you not lend my your calling card, and mayhap I will drop you a line, should I become available? I have been rather occupied, recently." My tone was very ladylike, though somewhat in a ridiculous fashion, and I grinned. He was intelligent, enough to understand that I was not meat, not just something to feed on and forget. No, I was more - a warrior, a woman, one that had respect for herself and others.
No - I was not so easily folded into a pocket, I was not.

“Certainly” I replied soon producing said card with a flourish. “Though you do not have to struggle so mightily with my scheduling. I am pretty much free as well as being irresponsible.” I teased while poking fun at myself. “I have day time duty today as well as the rest of the week thus my evenings are mostly free. Or if you enjoy morning calisthenics I arise before the sun to tend to such matters.” I added im more serious tones.

Cali... what? that was one word I had never heard of, and confusion flashed in my eyes a split instant before it was replaced with indifference. I had a vague idea of it, and in truth it mattered little. I would have to ask my brilliant Siovalese best friend, if I had a chance.
I accepted the card preciously, tucking it in the inside pocket of my jacket. "Very well, evenings work well for me, that is usually not when I am expected for training, or for tea," I said, that latter comment about tea with a slight roll of the eyes. Soon, there would be lunch with the Princess, and it involved another gown - the thought made me snort, and so did the whole concept of tea itself.

“Very well, what evening would be best for you?” I winked. “And if you perform well we can always have tea afterward. You should try it sometime as tea does not have to be a boring affair.” This so amused me as the tea I had with my cousins a few weeks back was more like battle than most of the blade work I had done in my short life.

I laughed, and grinned at him. "In truth, if you want to entice me, promise me an evening of ale at a rowdy pub, rather than tea," I told him on a light tone. I sighed. "I haven't had a chance to drink, and enjoy the ale freely, since I have been here. Something about propriety, and behaving like a lady," and that came with an other snort of contempt at my brother, and everyone else who thought they did me a favor in trying to make me fit the mold of the City.
Oh, I could play the game, wear the gowns, curtsy, dance, and do all that. I even managed to find pleasure in it. But the truth was, it wasn't in my nature, not at all. That was why I was so attracted to my reluctant mentor. She was like me - a wild force of nature.
More soberly, honestly, I replied, "I will have to get back to you. I have recently been accepted to train with a new mentor, and, well, she is a terror, having me run at her beck and call. In truth, I would not want to tell you a date, then to disappoint you," I told him.

"Well I do have a jug of ale on hand and most expect me to behave badly." I inclined my head and rose with that. "And very well just let me know when or Eula just drop by not like I am worried about making formal arrangements unless I am at the Night Court."

I laughed, downing the rest of my coffee and gesturing for more. "Off already? I guess you like to behave badly, but not to be late to work," and I laughed some more, putting my feet on a nearby chair, though making sure it wasn't on his.
"I might just do that, Gadleon Shahrizai. There is nothing like spontaneity. Although... just one thing," I said, before he turned to leave.

“When one’s employer is the queen punctuality is a good idea.” I then tilted my head and told her to go on with my eyes.

I laughed some more, tilting my head as I did. "Nevermind, I'll see you soon," and I jumped to my feet, planting a small kiss on his cheek before he was on his way.

When she kissed my cheek I returned the favor in kind though the predator in me made me just -have- to let her feel the barest soft hint of teeth. "I shall be waiting with baited breath" I added before turning to depart.

Teeth? that left me wondering, and I was a little thankful that earlier that week, I had spent sometime at L'Roche. At least, Leala had opened my eyes a little to Gadleon's world.
Returning to my seat, and taking another draught of coffee, I thought to myself.... what was I getting into ?
