Time for an update on the war! Apologies on the lateness of this, I meant to post it yesterday but time got away from me, as it so often does.
Carol and I previously posted what the war was going to entail, but just a reminder and an update (because, as usual, things are subject to change).
So, the original plot called for the war with Skaldia to be a diversion created by Cassius, who intends to conquer Terre d'Ange for himself. Once the D'angelines and the Skaldi realize that something else is going on, they form a truce (that is happening now, yay!). While preoccupied, Cassius shows up and attacks the City of Elua, now held by a very small garrison. There is a short seige before the armies of TdA show up (warned by Leandre, thank you!). However, tired and worn down by first the war with Skaldia and then the forced march back to the City, the troops do not have much luck routing Cassius. Eirik, in the meantime, realizes what is going on and comes to TdA's aid, in the spirit of the new truce, and together the D'angelines and the Skaldi oust the Carthaginians from D'angeline soil and we all celebrate madly.
That's the overarching story, and the way it plays out for those of us rping is twofold:
1. The army: anyone who is in the army in Camlach right now, or even other places and who want to join up, will be heading back to the City of Elua very shortly. As soon as the Parlay thread is over and Coretta gets the letter from Leandre, we will be marching back on the double. Once we post that we are leaving, please feel free to post any threads you wish about the trip back to the City. Alternately, when we get to the City, there can be threads about the fighting with Cassius, and about working with the Skaldi when they arrive.
2. The Skaldi: if you have Skaldi characters, they will be back on their own soil for a bit, while Eirik tries to hold up his end of the bargain, freeing the D'angeline slaves and also looking for the villain behind this all. After that, they will also march to the City.
3. In the City: characters in the City are free to post about what it's like behind the walls of a city under siege, their reactions/feelings and anything else you can think of!
As usual, if you guys have any ideas inside of the larger narrative, let Carol and I know, HOWEVER, we are doing what we can to sort of rush this plot to a conclusion, because we are getting close to being finished with the new board and we want to have this storyline wrapped up completely before we move on. Because of that, we are not taking the time that we had originally planned and some smaller parts to the story have been dropped in the interest of time. Unfortunately such a long term story arc has suffered in the wake of the move, but I think overall it will be worth it in the end!
