“As am I,” I said, giving her another smile before taking another bite of food. She really was lovely, though I tried to keep such thoughts to the back of my mind. I was not going to be too forward with one of Anael’s chosen; I had a healthy respect for the power of the gods.

For a moment, I ate in silence, merely enjoying the peace of the space and Sebastien's quiet company. After a while, though, I asked, “Has it been some time, since you went to Eisande?”

“Not that long, in fact I’ve only been in the city for a short while. I am here to learn more of my family’s business and about the flower industry as a whole,” I answered.

“Well,” I replied, smiling a little, not quite shyly, not quite coyly, though perhaps a touch, for adept's ways are hard to let go, “if the Temple can be of any assistance in this endeavour, do come and visit, of course.”

I returned her smile, with a touch of my own flirtiness. “May I come back for other reasons as well?” I asked.

Was he really....? I laughed lightly, very flattered. “Other reasons, Sebastien?” I tilted my head, giving him a little look of curiosity. “I should be glad to spend time with a friend, of course. Having been out of town for quite a while, I do feel as if I'd come back to a changed city.”
Which it was, in a way – or perhaps it was I who had changed. Still he was handsome and sweet, and I was interested in seeing more of him.

“I am newly here, so we could always discover the city together – you again and me for the first time,” I said, still smiling. I was very glad I had come here today. To have met someone as interesting as Shona on top of touring the temple was a gift indeed.

“It's a deal, then,” I replied, and I found myself amused that it was a deal that included no swindling at all. “Perhaps we might explore the Artisan's district, on my next day of break? I do wonder how the businesses have changed.”
Moreover, I'd yet to see if the McDermotts were still about – but I preferred to go accompanied, simply because of the nature of my relationship with them, and particularly with Anna.
