Was it the fact that Jourdan had his debut that made him so nice, or was he naturally this way? Either was I was glad for it. Maybe I would feel a little more comfortable after mine too, and I looked away from the water to give him a smile. "I'm glad there wasn't anything frightening, but I'll try not to worry," I replied, then watched him cover his heart and an idea came to me. Reaching into my pocket I pulled out a bit of wood carved with a rune, worn smooth by long use. "Here, this will help you. It's Ehwaz, the one I told you about, and it can help keep you safe if you're honest and brave enough to accept the help."

I watched as she puled out the run from her pocket. I smiled with thanks as I took it from her. "Thank you so much, Kasia. I'm lucky to have you as a friend." I held her gift to me tightly before slipping it inside the satchel that I wore around me.

He accepted the gift and I was glad of it, though I suppose it was just as likely that he'd forget about it until he needed it. "I think we're both lucky," I replied with a smile.
Then there was the sound of my name being called across the garden and I recognized the voice as one of my teachers. Oh, yes, class. I still had to practice my dancing and my cards this morning. "I'm sorry, I think they want me to learn some more," I told Jourdan in a sedate tone as I rose and brushed some falling flower petals off of my gown. "Do you want me to show you out? I'm sure I should but sometimes people like to think by themselves."

I shook my head. "No I'll find it. You've been wonderful Kasia. You'll always be wonderful." I gave her a warm smile and left, feeling like this would be a wonderful day.
