"True," I said, laughing softly, "though if they come to us for much else it could be deemed a silly use of coin not to ply the abilities of our House."

"It would be. It would be a waste of coin to come to Gentian when one wished for an Eglantine."

"Indeed," I said with a smile. "Though sometimes. Wnder if some of the Gentian adepts are more performers than fortune tellers."

"Some of us are like the dramatists found in Night's Doorstep or from Eglantine," I said. "We see what is being told and distort the truth to what our patrons wish to hear."

I laughed softly. "So true. Though I myself came from Eglantine, and before that Cereus, I prefer truth and reality to a fanciful embellishment to please my patrons."

"Eglantine, eh? I haven't been outside Gentian since my mother brought me here. Well, other than trips to the marquist and my occasional venture into the Doorstep. But truly free from the House, not since I was a child."

"Ah well, sometimes it seems, more often than not, the Dowayne's know where to put a child, sometimes its obvious enough. But I guess with my colouring they thought Cereus would be perfect, and then with my artistic leanings, they thought Eglantine. Then with the gifts I displayed that were finally noticed, Gentian is where I have ende dup and spent most of my time now, though I do still take ssome drawing classes at Eglantine to better my skill."

"Even Dowaynes don't know where to put a child," I said. "Some times it's obvious, some times it's not. Me, being a Tsingini by-blow, it was easy enough to know that I would remain here." I shrugged. "Who knows where we may end up? And drawings, you say? Mayhap one time you can show me."

I smiled, though I shook my head.
"Well, I could show you what they make me draw in teh classes," I mused, "but the drawings used for visions usually end up wioth the Dowayne or the patron, depending on the nature of what I see."

"You haven't done any drawings on your own outside of assignations and the classes?"

"Well yes, for practice, or should a vision or dream come to me, but for leisure? No. I do not find it as the most enjoyable way to pass my time, just mostly a means to an ends. How about you? Have you any hobbies yourself?" Truly the only hobbies I seemed to have were either to perfect my art or forget my memories.

"When I have nothing to do and tire of being here, I'd go down to the square and guess the dreams of those there," I answered. "Not sure if any of my guesses are right, but it's something. " It seemed to be my own hobby, but it was better than nothing.

I smiled softly, moving forward in teh garden as I did. "That sounds like a Gentian form of people watching," I mused, laughing softly. "An interesting take on the age old hobby."

"It does, doesn't it?" I smiled and moved to touch another flower. "It's better than trying not to go insane here with adepts who are addicted to opium."

I could have started at her comment, but instead smiled, laughing softly. "Hazards of the trade, I suppose," I mused.

I nodded. "There are hazards for any trade that is taken up." Being an adept of Gentian, the main hazard was opium.

"Indeed. Id like to think that opium addiction, though not terribly good, is one of the lesser hazards of our trade. Imagine, being a Valerian, or an Eglantine," I had been an Eglantine, but I could not tumble truly to save my life, though dance came far more easily to me. "Being whipped to within an inch of ones life, or breaking bones from a bad tumble, could put someone out of commission for a very, very long time."

I nodded. "I've used opium very rarely. I've kept it handy on many assignations and used it only upon request." I shuddered slightly at the thought of being a Valerian. "I'm not cut out to be a Valerian adept. And there are Eglantine adepts who don't tumble."

"Oh for certain there are, I was one of them," I said with a knowing smile, "but those that do... and Opium.. I have used it as well. If you learn how to control it, it's rather helpful. It tends to enhance what comes to one naturally," I explained, "but only when used right."

"I've had some training with opium, but I was allowed to use the dromonde. I inherited it from my mother."

"Ah yes. I've got something... sort of similar. I see images, and draw pictures... pictomancy they call it. I find that even though it is something that comes to me rather naturally, it is enhanced by opium and trancing," I explained. "So even if you possess a skill naturally, there is always a way to make it better, more accurate. That is waht I spend my time doing... perfecting my art by whatever means I have. I take Naamah's service very seriously," I laughed softly then, "perhaps too seriously."

"I hadn't dared to use opium to enhance the dromonde. Those visions are pretty damn clear enough as it is. I guess I have a feeling that opium would put a haze on the vision if I use that and the dromonde." I chuckled a bit at her comment. "True. And some just do it for a lark."

"Mhmm," I murmured in ersponseas we walked ot the far edge of the path. "Well, I am done my walk for today, I think I will be returning to the House proper. What ar e your plans for the rest fo teh day, Kaden?" I asked. Quite frankly, I had grown a little bored speaking on these matters, and reiterating teh same thing again and again. Plus there was something about her aura that was not wholly pleasant.
