My eyes sparkled with a combination of amusement and interest. I leaned in to murmur in his ear. "We'll have to stop at my place on the way, I didn't bring a purse. Because that sounds like a rather excellent idea."

His answer sent a thrill of anticipation through me and I glanced sideways at Roland as he whispered, my smile just a little more sensual. "Well," I whispered back in low tone of my own, "Lead on then." My lips faintly brushed his earlobe as I spoke.

My grin grew even wider as his lips brushed the cartilage of my ear. Oh yes, this could prove to be a very interesting encounter. "This way," I murmured, and we started for my rooms in a boarding house in the east borough.

"Of course," I replied easily, walking with Roland to wherever his home was. This afternoon was already looking much more promising than it had been earlier.

"So tell me, do you dabble in any of the other Eglantine arts?" I asked as we walked.

"Only the really fun ones," I said with a bit of a chuckle. "But in order to be Eglantine you have to be at least able to function in the other arts even if they're not yours. I can sing alright, though not as well as the Eglantine singers by any standards, and dance well enough, and even a bit of sewing when I absolutely have to. Do you have any artistic pursuits of your own, Roland?" I gave his name just a little bit of a purr and smirked playfully just to see if it would have any kind of reaction on him.

He stretched out my name teasingly, and it made the corners of my mouth quirk up. We were definitely both interested. "I enjoy dancing, which is good, considering how much is expected in social situations. And I write some rather terrible poetry. But I'm not a very artistic person, I suppose," I said. "Or perhaps I just need some help from an Eglantine to fix that."

"I'm sure there's something an Eglantine could find about you that's artistic," I replied with a wink. "Maybe it's just that you need the right way to express it and it's not something that one generally does in public. It's a firmly held belief of mine that everyone has a little bit of art to them."

I merely needed to express myself in a private setting? Now that was something I could go for. It caused my smile to widen as we turned down a street. "If you manage to draw it out, I would be most grateful," I replied.

"Oh, I'm sure I'd be most grateful too," I replied with a smile as wide as his own, glancing sideways to take him in. He really was a handsome man, his features both exotic and sensuous, and I was eager to see how he'd behave in a more private setting.

Around another corner, and we were at the boarding house I was staying at. I opened the door for him, and we made our way to my rooms. "It's not much, but I usually don't have anyone to impress," I explained with a little smile, grabbing book where I kept the financier's notes.

"It's nice, but then I'm not the type to swoon at fancy architecture either," I replied with a chuckle and another impish grin as I leaned against the doorway and waited for him to gather whatever he needed. I'd never been a business-minded person and the sooner that could be over with the faster I could move on to the part that almost any patron was really interested in.

The book went into my breast pocket, and then I stole over to him, a hand going against the wall near where his head was. I leaned in slowly. "What does make you swoon?" I asked, a breath away from kissing him.

It was good to see that he was willing to play a little bit, that always made things more interesting. "All sorts of things, especially strong, handsome ones," I said in a low tone with a smirk of impish delight as I closed the gap and kissed him soundly before pulling slightly away.

His lips met mine, and in that instant I knew my earlier instincts had served me well. I licked my lower lip, tasting him in the traces his kiss had left behind. "Then we'll get along just fine," I said, my voice low and a smile on my lips.

"And here I thought we already were," I replied with a wider smile, pushing myself up from where I was leaning and closer to Roland for a moment before I subtly ran my tongue along my own lower lip. "But getting the chance to prove that once and for all would be nice. Is there anything else you needed before I show you back to Eglantine?"

I shook my head, tempted to pull him fully inside and close the door for a rather long and private... talk. Dance? Yes, dance was better. I had a feeling not a whole lot of talking would occur. "I'm set. Let's go get the paperwork out of the way so I can get you alone," I said with a promising grin.

"That's the best idea I've heard in at least the last minute or so," I replied with a light bat of my lashes before I stepped away from him and started for the stairs that led down to the rest of the main building. I made sure not to get more than a step or two in front of him though and glanced over my shoulder every so often. Soon enough we'd be back at Eglantine and things would get far more interesting.
