Rules of Role Playing and the Board
Listed below are rules regarding Role Playing and anything in regards to the well being of the Board as created by the administration and designers of this board.
(*PLEASE NOTE THAT INACTIVITY IS DEFINED BY A PLAYER’S ABSENCE IN LOGIN OR POSTING, OVER A PERIOD OF 30 DAYS. ACTIVITY IS DEFINED AS POSTING 1 ONCE A DAY, AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK.)
(*PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PLAYERS MUST CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT FOR EACH CHARACTER THEY HAVE)
1. CONTENT: This is a HISTORICAL site. Please keep all posts reflecting this.
2. CHARACTERS: Please limit your self to 4 characters until you have been involved in the game for 30 days. After this, players will be allowed to create more characters; the amount and frequency in which players are allowed to create new characters, will be based on two criteria. One, the amount of time the player has been on the board; and two, players ability to maintain frequent posting and activity as defined above.
- 2a. If you wish to create a cannoned character (adept/Cassiline/Priest or Priestess), but you do not wish for them to follow the exact canon then you must discuss this with staff first. As in the real world not every one is what they appear to be so it’s only fair that some roles will be open to interpretation. But staff must be notified and aware of this in writing, either within a Bio or posted Plot; that this is your intent so that we may discuss any concerns we may have with it.
- 2b. It is very important that you contact a staff member and have them approve your newly created character before you can begin posting. Characters must be approved in order to insure that all players get a chance to have the characters they want.
- 2c. NPC of a players own making are open to interpretation by the player or the players choosing. Some NPCs, such as the Dowaynes of the Night Court, have bios that players can consult when using them. You can find those bios here: www.rodandweal.webs.com. Each House has their own page, with a bio for that House's Dowayne.
3. BIOS/BACKSTORIES: Staff and Management reserve the right to deny any bios and/or backstories for any reason they see fit.
- 3a. If a bio/backstory is denied, the Management will supply the player with a reason, and the player may decide whether or not to correct the issues and resubmit.
- 3b.All Players must provide a member of Management/Staff a backstory to be approved and posted before you can begin RPing. Backstories, like all other posts, must be in the limited first person point of view ('I' and 'me' rather than 'he' and 'they'.) After a player has been on the board a minimum of six months, backstories will no longer need to be approved.
- 3c. Staff may require storylines to be edited should a player's role playing become too fantastical or go beyond the reality of the board or plot line.
4. STAFF: It is important that your bios or any other information or questions, are sent to only ONE staff member at a time. Mass PMs of character bios are frowned upon, as they cause confusion and the ensuing mess makes it difficult for the staff to meet the needs of the other players.
5. HISTORY/CREATING : Unlike the books, this RPG is set 50 years after Phedre and Joscelin's time. Keep that in mind if you want to play a relation to a canon character (which has been first approved) from the book. This means that if you are a character, you would have to be that person's descendant.
6. ROLE PLAYING: Players are to post in first person only and in all circumstances except bios, which are to be written in omniscient third person. NPCs may be posted in third person limited from the point of view of the playing character.
- 6a. Please, no "God-moding," which is a fairly basic prerequisite for any good RP.
- 6b. No character is allowed to harm or kill another with out the player's consent or before discussing it with the player of that character and notification sent to a staff member that approval has been given.
- 6c. A player may not include his or her character into an already established thread without first speaking the players of the original thread. This obviously excludes fetes, or other events that have an already implied openness.
- 6d. Dowayne’s of the Night Court are to be considered as NCPs, but can be directed, (for example; you go to Eglantine House to commission a gown/out fit). Quick bios have been put up, so the characters are established, and severely out of character action with them will be quickly disciplined. Bios are found here: www.rodandreal.webs.com
7. INACTIVE/ABANDONED: Characters left abandon and/or inactive (and/or players inactivity) for more then 30 days, will be moved to the inactive character sub board located in the Records of Citizenship board. These characters will be left there or auctioned/given to other players interested in playing them. If you must be away for a long period of time due to circumstances beyond your control, feel free to PM a staff member about such things, or post a message in the Out of Character board and we will work with you to the best of our ability.
8. WRITING:
* 8a. Staff may require storylines to be edited should a player's role playing become too fantastical or go beyond the reality of the board or plot line.
- 8b. Players may list their character's active threads on the "Active Threads" board, but this is not a requirement.
9. PUNISHMENTS : The disciplinary system is written in the 'New Players' board and will be enacted fairly with the breaking of any of these rules.
- 9a. Should a player break rules in character, they may be dealt with in character by the Queen or members of the royal guard.
- 9b. Players may be asked to leave the board should a majority vote be given by the staff and management. Reasons for dismissal may include any of the following:
-Uncooperative with staff and management and/or argumentative/combative.
-Inciting trouble between other members of the board.
-If a player is spoken to regularly and still continues to break rules.
- 9c. Only Management (Carol and Nicole) are to help new members create characters.
- 9d. Should a player be denied a character(s), and they create another account pretending to be some one other themselves under the pretense of avoiding limits, rules or restrictions. Said person will be punished accordingly. This may include being banned from the board.
10. DON’T ASSUME : You know the old saying, if you assume you make and ass out of you and me. If you are unsure, about anything, in any way PLEASE ask a staff member or manager. Its better that you ask then make a mistake. Please use your heads about things too, if you think that what you're going to do is in anyway something that could be a problem ask. It will save you and us a lot of trouble and RPing time.
Questions, comments and concerns should be addressed to ONLY these people. Please feel free to contact the staff with ideas for story lines, the basic story lines that will be followed are posted but if you want to discuss any ideas we're more then happy to listen and take suggestions. In the Parliament section there is a subheading for major and minor storylines. Major Storylines are only to be added by staff members, but the Minor Storylines section is open for all players to inform the staff of their future plans with characters, as well as invite others to join them. Participate when ever possible, a Role Playing Game just isn't fun with out participation! If your threads are slow for the moment, we have our Rumors board, in which one can post character rumors they wish to have distributed in conversation as supposed general knowledge (rules included in that section) as well as a Games section.
Thanks and Have fun!!
Carol and Nicole
