Having already paid for my items and given the address they were to be delivered to, I fell into step behind her.
“Lead the way,” I said, smiling.

I carried my book in hand as she followed me out and we walked down the cobbled lane. I could feel the chill against my skin and found it invigorating. I looked to Tabitha with a smile. "A great start to a great day. Books and... my it is lovely out today, wouldn't you say?" I asked her.

"It is," I agreed as I fell into step beside her. "For winter, this is a rather lovely day. I still haven't acclimated again to the cold, so this is a nice respite."

"Hmm," I mused, looking to her, "my body seems to acclimate rather quickly. I never really notice too much of a difference. Hail from one of the warmer provinces, do you?"

“I’m Camaline, actually,” I said with a chuckle. “Recently I have been down on the coast though and it was much less cold there.”

I laughed softly and nodded in understanding. "You may be Camaline, but perhaps your heart belongs somewhere warmer, like Marsilikos," I teased. "They have some lovely architecture there, as well, as a place where science meets the sea."

“Indeed. I was fortunate enough to have a couple commissions wherein I was tasked with restoring some areas that the sea air had degraded. I was able to maintain the look of the structures so that it still looked like all original work,” I replied.

"That sounds rather magnificent!" I beamed as we walked. "Have you worked on anything here in the City? And do you only do buildings? Or does your stone work extend to things on a smaller level... like interiors?"

“I’ve done a few interiors, but most of my work encompasses the exterior buildings,” I answered with a smile. I could talk about my work for hours. “Last year though, I turned an interior room in a villa into a Helene inspired bath. It was interesting getting all the touches just right.”

"That sounds absolutely lovely," I said wtih a smile. "Perhaps one day if I ever have the coin for it I could contract you to do some of your work. Or perhaps, sometime you could show me what you've done. I have always been fascinated by the ability someonehas to make something from nothing, something beautiful and soft out of something hard and cold."

“I’ve had detailed sketches made of all my work, before after and during the work, if you would like to see them, I would be more than happy to show them off,” I said with a chuckle. “I have no trouble with being proud of what I’ve done.”

I laughed. "That would be superb," I said wtih a grin. "And it seems we have more in common. I am also rather proud of my own work, though I do not suppose anyone would really call it work. Most call it folly, in fact," I joked as we walked.

“Folly?” I asked, surprised. She didn’t seem the type to be involved in folly, but then we had only met. “May I ask what it is you do?”

"Well, I am many things," I said with a grin, a mysterious one, "but I suppose they can all be lumped under one term - witch."

“A witch?” I asked, my interest peaked. “How fascinating.”

I smiled at her assessment. "Indeed, or at least I find it fascinating, though I have come across many who find it terrifying, to say the least. Regardless, it is something I was born into and I truly cannot think of anything that better suits me," I explained with a bit of excitement. I took pleasure and pride in my work, even if it wasn't the most respected "profession".

“People are often terrified of what they don’t take the time to understand,” I said, smiling. “Nothing known is scary.”

"That is true," I said, laughing softly, "though I am not so sure if they knew the ins and outs of sorcery that that would alleviate any of their fears. It might just increase it," I smiled sweetly, "not that I would cause anyone harm, of course," I added, my eyes looking sidelong at her.

“Of course,” I replied, chuckling. “Still, not understanding is far worse, it cause much more fear and bias.”

"I agree," I grinned, "Ignorance is certainly not bliss, no matter how many people believe it is. How could knowing that you do not know something, nor want to know what you do not know, be blissful. It drives me mad!" I exclaimed with a chuckle.

"Me as well," I agreed, joing her in laughter. "Not only is all knowledge worth having, life is incomplete without having gathered as much knowledge as you can."

I nodded, agreeing fully with her.
"It is nice to find someone who thinks the same way I do," I said with a grin. "Sometimes I forget that I am not the only one in this world with such a thirst for knowledge, to make the unknown known."

“Yes, it seems more often people are content with whatever is easy and have no desire to expand their minds,” I said, nodding.

I chuckled though I nodded. "It seems you have given me new found faith in the intelligence of mankind," I said, teasingly, though it was true and nice and a step out of teh ordinary to have a discussion with someone who had a level head on her shoulders, as opposed to teh usual nobility with bright eyes of wonder, or narrowed eyes of disgust and distaste.

“Why thank you, that is very kind,” I said, smiling. I glanced around us, wondering just where the restaurant was, before looking at her again.
“SO tell me, what exactly do you do as a witch?”

I followed her gaze, she was no doubt looking out for the restaurant. We were quickly approaching and would be there soon.
I smiled at her question, looking upon her.
"Well... a bit of everything really. Depends on the occassion. My heritage - I am part Drujani, part Serenissiman and part Tsingano, lends to a great deal of fortune telling, which turns a goodly amount of coin," I explained, "I also heal ailments," I continued. "But my love is more for the... darker... side of magic. Death, life, altering states of being in animate and inanimate objects. Mind reading as well, though that is very difficult and I have not yet mastered it."

"In which other areas?" I asked with a grin, "other areas of life, or other areas of magic?"

“The darker side as you described it,” I answered.

I smiled sweetly. "Some, yes. My first spell of mortus that succeeded was when I was but a child. I think when my mother saw that I had an affinity, and such a one as that, to the dark side, she steered my training away from it. But I have been ever mindful of my abilities, and have learned a great deal," I explained. "Of course, I have not had much use for it in a real world application," I said rather sadly, "but I do practice, and the skill is there. It is something that I don't think I could ever lose. it is as much a part of me as the flesh covering my body is."
"Do you think that the dark arts would intrigue you?" I asked her.
