I chuckled, going along with him, though I disliked lying to her. Well, it was not as if it were something harmful, nor was it my place to lay Erie's feelings before her.
"Yes, you know how people are always fascinated by the celibacy thing," I said, rolling my eyes self-mockingly. "Most d'Angelines look at me as if I have two heads at the very notion, but I must say, Erie here is taking it well."

I laughed, shaking my head. I wasn't quite certain that had been the extent of their conversation, but I trusted them both so I accepted their explanation.
"Well, I confess, it is hard to fathom how you manage it in the City." I said, taking a bite of my food and then a drink of wine. "It's too bad, I was going to suggest you meet Erie's sister, but it would only be a horrible tease for her."

"I find it very admirable." I replied as I took up my fork again. "And a word of advice, don't meet Eros, she'll want to turn you faster then you could say celibacy." I quirked a gently smile but it faded quickly in return.

I laughed, shaking my head. "She wouldn't be the first, but thus far I have managed to avoid the wiles of the fairer sex." Barely. I had not been too far off from turning into Emile, whom I had once gone to for advice. The irony of that situation was not lost on me, and I had actually found that the more I stayed away from Sandrine, the easier it was to think about her without feeling like I was doing something dishonorable.
"There are always those who fall, but I hope that I can honor my vows better than that."

I nodded, taking another bite of food and chewed it as I listened. "It takes strength." I replied simply as I took up my wine and took a sip.

I felt bad for Guy then, I knew he loved Sandrine, and she loved him, but I also knew that neither of them would ever take it past the feelings they had. It made me sad to think that my brother would never know the kind of feelings that Erie brought out in me.
"I know you'll always hold to your vows, Guy, your strength is one of the things I love about you." I smiled at him and tried not to sound so sad.

It meant a lot to me, that she believed in me, if only she had any idea about how I felt for Sandrine. "Well, thank you, sister, it's good to know that you think so highly of me." I smiled across the table at her and then took my last few bites of paella.
"So," I said with a grin, "anyone up for dessert?"

I finished my own plate and nodded. "I think that would suit to finish." I replied, hoping that always meant the end of the dinner in general.

I nodded as well, though I had not finished my paella. I'd rather have dessert anyway! I motioned the waiter over and ordered us something called flan, apparently a type of custard.
"Dessert it is," I said, smiling first at Erie and then at Guy, "I know Guy is dying for it, he loves sweets more than any woman I know." I teased lightly.

I gave a flicker of a smile, full, genuine, but fast before it fell away. "I like sweet things too." I replied softly as I looked to Guy.

"I confess," I laughed, "I do love sweets, it's my weakness." I watched as my sister ordered us something, then Erie commented, causing her to blush softly.
Watching the two of them, I had to smile. I knew my sister had been worried, but in truth, there was no need. The happiness on her face said it all, and her happiness was my happiness.

The flan came without incident, and I tentatively took a bite. "Oh, this is good," I said, encouraging the others to try it. I felt much more relaxed, it seemed that Guy was not going to give Erie and I a hard time, and I was more relieved than I had thought I would be. Guy and I had only become close of late, but it was important to me that he approve because I had a feeling that Erie was going to be in my life for some time.

I began to eat my dessert with along with Sophine, trying to think of things to say that would not be awkward, but everything I came up with seemed like it would be very much that; awkward. So I decided I should keep my mouth shut, metaphorically speaking, and simply nodded and flashed a quick smile in agreement with her approval of the flan.

The flan was good, but I knew it was getting time for me to get back to Rochelle and Denyse, who was staying over.
"Well, this has been a nice dinner," I said, smiling at them both, "but I do need to head back to the girls." I rose and extended a hand to Erie.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Erie." I said, and I was sincere, he seemed like a nice young man, certainly he cared for my sister and vice versa.

I rose as well and reached out, to grasp Guy's hand and shook it. "It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I hope you see you again some time soon; perhaps another dinner." I offered politely.

I rose and gave Guy a quick hug, seeing him off with a bit of relief. Though he seemed fine with Erie and I, it was still nerve-wracking trying to make small talk. Erie was somewhat taciturn naturally and though between us two that was well enough, it was a bit odd trying to fill the space with my brother there.
Once Guy was gone, I turned to Erie and smiled, "Well, that went well, don't you think?"

Watching Guy go was quite a bit of relief and I found myself siding a little as I sat back down. "Well." I echoed. "Yes, it went well." I had also been awkward, but I'm there that could go without saying.

I pushed my plate away with a little sigh, looking at him and marveling once more that he enjoyed spending time with me.
"What shall we do with the rest of our evening?" I asked, hoping he had the same ideas that I did.

I smiled gently and shrugged. "What ever you wish." I replied simply, the look no her face made me wonder about what she had up her sleeve.

"Well," I said, smiling at him and running my fingers lightly over his arm. "I bought you a gift or two when Eros and I went shopping, and Denyse is spending the night with Guy and Rochelle, so I have the house to myself all night..." I trailed off, feeling that my intentions were clear enough.

I began to smile, leaning back in my chair a little before I remember something. "Damn." I said as I pursed my lips. "I just remembered I told Eros I'd spend time with her tonight, she wanted to know how everything turned out." I chewed the inside of my lip for a moment as I looked at Sophine. "I"m sorry, she's really been on my case about spending some quality time with her." I reached out and ran my hand over her shoulder. "How about the three of us get together for a bit and then once Eros goes to sleep we can... " My lips curled up into a devilish smile. "Have our own quality time."

Well, I would have preferred to have him to myself right away, but I did like Eros, so it would probably be fun to spend time with them both together. Besides, if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have the gifts for him that I had, I never would have gone to l'Roche's on my own.
"That sounds like a great idea," I said, "Let's grab a bottle of wine to take home with us." I gestured toward the waiter and ordered a bottle of an Aragonian red to take with us. "So, do you want to pick her up and meet me at home, or shall we pick her up together?"

I nodded with a smile. "I'm happy to hear you say that." I replied. "Lets go pick her up together." I added, knowing that it would go that much further to show Eros how much Sophine was now part of my life.

"I was hoping you would say that," I said as we paid for our food and left the restaurant. "I like the prospect of a nice carriage ride with you," I grinned, slipping my arm around his waist as we walked out into the cool night air.
