"It seems we are of one mind," I said, marveling that I should meet another D'Angeline that held some of my own views. It made me wonder if we had more in common.
"So," I said at length, leaning a little sideways to trail my fingers into the frigid water, "Do you have any plans for the future, once you find your friends?"

I looked down. I hadn't thought of it really. "No," I said, "Just enjoy what Elua has to offer, then head back to Eisande once spring arrives."

I nodded, knowing what it was like to have your life at a crossroads. "Well, the City does seem to have a lot to offer, I know I've learned a lot since coming here. Do you have any particular interests? I've heard that the theater here is wonderful, and of course the fine dining ... even parts of the Palace are open to the public." I grinned ruefully at the irony of me telling him about all of the sights that I had not yet seen. "Or, if you're like me, you'll spend all of your time in libraries!"

I listened and chuckled softly. "I do enjoy reading, the light stuff usually, Aragonian adventure tales tend to be my favorite. I'll read a little philosophy too." I considered the other things she mentioned. "Theatre sounds good, and of course I adore food."

I laughed, "Aragonian adventure tales sound intriguing! All of my reading seems to be focused on the properties of the spleen and why willowbark is better than feverfew in certain circumstances. I should try reading something light for once!" The other topics, theater and food, were also of interest to him, it seemed. "Perhaps one night we can see a show or some such ... I should like to, but going alone is awkward, don't you think?"

I nodded. "It is. And yes we should. I have very little planned so whenever there is a play you would like to see just let me know and I would love to accompany you." I laughed quietly. "We could eat dinner beforehand to and maybe I could provide you with something lighter to read than your medical manuscripts."

"That sounds perfect," I said, pleased that I had come out of my shell enough to make a new friend. It wasn't that I was too horribly shy, but I was so wrapped up in my studies that I hardly ever ventured out. "I shall have to do some research to find out where the best places to eat in the City are," I said with a laugh. "So far I've had all of my meals at the Sanctuary!"

I smiled playfully. "You be sure to do that. There appear to be so many lovely places around here to eat. The best way though might be to simply sample each until we find a favorite."

"That's actually a really good idea," I said, gathering up some of the dried up pages. "Would you like to start now? We can wander around and find someplace that looks good for lunch." It was unlike me to propose such a thing, but Guy's similar outlook on life made me feel safe asking him.

"Sure! That's sounds great!" I bent down and gathered up the pages of the manuscript and handed them to her gently. "WHich direction do you want to go?"

I tucked the pages of the book away in the small bag I carried with me and then considered. "How about ... " I closed my eyes and held my index finger out, pointing, then spun around in a circle a few times. I opened my eyes and looked in the direction I was pointing and laughed, "that way?"

I smiled, laughing good naturedly. "Looks right to me, m'lady!" I stood up and offered her my arm. "Shall we?"

I took his arm with a smile as we began to walk in the direction I'd pointed us. "I hope there are actually some restaurants this way," I commented, laughing softly. "For all I know, I've pointed us toward Night's Doorstep!"

I laughed and shruged. "Well even still I'm sure that we will find something even there." We walked along slowly and it let me have a good look at her. Elua seemed to be a collection of the world's most beautiful. She was no exception. A grinned and look back at the road. "Hopefully though we find a nice place right off."

"I suppose that's true, people in Night's Doorstep have to eat too," I laughed. Luckily he was a soldier, so the rumors that surrounded the place did not concern me overmuch. However, we appeared to be headed in the direction of many shops and cafes. "I think this is the Artisan's District..." I said, and then pointed to a little place with an Aragonian name. "What about there, El Parra?"

I looked at the sign. "I've been here before. Nice place. But seeing as you haven't we still can go in if you like." That was were I met Maire and secretly I didn't want to go in. It had become a special place as it were. Nevertheless, if she wanted to eat there I wouldn't stop her.

"Well, it isn't fun if you've been here already," I said, laughing. I cast about down the street for another place, seeing a tea shoppe down the way. "What about tea?"

I was glad she suggested a different option. Tea actually sounded good just then, especially given the temperature. "Certainly! That sounds excellent." I smiled, chuckling a little.
