I grunted my response "Yes, they are ready." I even worked up a bit of a smile "T'was not much of a job or that difficult two silvers will cover yah."

I pulled four silvers from my pouch and set them on his workbench before offering him my hand to shake. “Your skill is worth far more than that,” I said, smiling. “You have my thanks and I will return whenever I need more work.”

I took his hand in my own ham like appendage and shook “thank you and you are welcome as well.” Who said I could not deal with these prissy D’Angelines? It seemed like I was doing just fine thank you very much.

I took my swords and slipped them back into their sheaths with ease. I was about to turn to go, but stopped and looked at him again.
“If I was to return to hear more about your homeland, would that be alright?” I asked.

I considered and then agreed “yes, that is perfectly fine. There was a time I might consider myself a traitor for such a thing but since I have been cast out this is my home.” I rolled my large shoulders “who knows maybe we can learn to live together as nations. After all most of our depredations are the result of empty bellies.”

“I promise not to ask for any military secrets,” I said, grinning. “I do seek to understand more of your people though and I agree, perhaps one day we can live together as nations.”
I bowed slightly to him, in respect and not at all mocking. “Until next time.”

I watched him go with my normal grunted response. I had used up all my flowery words for the day.

I left the workshop feeling my time had been well spent. I was wager to return and learn more, but I would give him a few days so as not to seem bothersome.
