I had invited my cousin Sarielle over for tea. It was just over three months until the wedding, and I was beginning to line my ducks up for the event. One was the flowers, which I was hoping my cousin might be able to help organize. Sarielle had given me quite the bouquet at the last fete I had held, and I had been impressed by it.
And so a few minutes before she was due to arrive, I was in the sitting room, making sure that everything was perfect to receive a visitor.

Anacrasia had sent word to me that she desired to meet and have tea at her city home, and I, of course, obliged. i had not formally met her, not yet, but I was looking forward to it. Gadleon seemed to hold her in high esteem, unlike many of our other cousins, especially the trouble-makers, and so I made sure to remind myself ot carry myself properly, and be a proper representation of myself, and my branch of the family, even if some unsavoury things had been happening on Naia's part. I dresseed in a gown that was not too showy, a deep turquoiseof silk and finely spun wool to ward off the chill. I left my locks down, curled to perfection, stained my lips just slightly for a touch of colour, and darkened my lashes. I took the carriage to her home, and with a deep breath, exited it to walk up to the front door. I knocked three times and waited for someone to answer.

I heard the knock on the door and the quiet conversation that followed the maid answering it. I stood as Sarielle was shown into the sitting room, smiling and greeting her with a kiss. "Welcome cousin. I'm so glad we're able to meet at last."

She met me at the door, admitting me into the room with the kiss of greeting, which I returned.
"Thank you for inviting me over. And yes, I agree, it is high time we met," I said, pulling back with a smile.

"Please come in. Tea?" I asked, moving further into the room and allowing her to do the same. I took a seat beside a hot tea pot.

I followed her into the room, taking the seat across from her.
"Yes that would be lovely, thank you" I said with a soft smile as I settled my skirts about me. I looked at her, assessing her. She seemed the no bull type, but I wondered if she played gmees like the rest of teh Shahrizai. The way Gadleon thought highly of her, with respect, and wondered what fed that respect.

I poured out the hot tea, handing her a cup. "So have you been enjoying your time in the City?" I inquired, feeling her eyes weighing me up. "I understand that you haven't been here overly long."

I laughed softly, taking the cup from her. The continuous cloud of steam rose and dissipated as I set my cup down on the table.
"I suppose that depends on how one defines 'overly long.' I have been here for about 11 years, basically from when I reached 16," I explained. "I've just been a rather silent member of society. Regardless, I guess you could say I have enjoyed it. I miss Kusheth sometimes, though. Though not enough to go back and live there," I explained. "How long have you been here?"

"Oh, I've been traveling between here and Kusheth since I was a child. They are both home to me, albeit in different ways," I said with a smile. "Speaking of traveling in from Kusheth, I wanted to thank you for taking in Eros and Erie when they arrived. I'm afraid their grandfather didn't bother to check that I would be in town before he sent them off. I appreciate that you were able to offer your hospitality until I returned from my trip."

I smiled as she thanked me and inclined my head.
"It was not a problem, afterall, we are all family," I said wtih a smile. "And they were both very well behaved, so they caused very little bother," at least in teh sence that they did not themselves ause a raucus. I was pretty sure that their being in the house had lead to some of Naia's more colourful strikes against me. "I presume they are both doing well and very happy to be in the City."

"They seem to be settling in," I replied easily. "I think the capital suits them, more to explore."

"Hmm very true, though once the initial magic of it is gone, mischief tends to follow," I said wtih a smile, and then taking a sip of my tea.
"I have been meaning to congratulate you on your betrothal," I said with a smile, a genuine one. "How did the two of you meet?" I asked. I knew nothing about this cousin, as I knew very little about many, so whether this question was surpassing any lines I did not know, but I doubt that it did.

"Thank you very much," I said with a smile. Thinking on Jareth easily brought a smile to my face. "As it happens, he bought me a drink at The Lord and Lady. Jareth had just arrived in town after a five year absence, and wished to pick my brain about the happenings of court."

I had to laugh, just a little. It was a sweet way to meet one's beau. "That is very sweet," I said wtih a grin. "Love at first sight?"

I laughed at her question. "Oh no. He took a while to grow on me, but he was persistent so it didn't take to long," I replied with a grin.

I sipped my tea as she spoke, and then smiled. "I do not know you well, but I can see you are genuinely happy."

"He does make me very happy," I agreed with another smile. "And I'm very excited for our wedding. Which actually brings me to my third reason for inviting you here today. The first was to meet you of course, and then to thank you. But I was wondering if you might be willing to organize the flowers for our wedding? There won't be many flowers around at that time of the year, I know, but the rose arrangement you gave me for my natale tells me that you have a wonderful eye."

I smiled, chuckling softly.
"I would be honoured to. I did not think that you had noticed my gift, I must admit," I said with a soft smile. "But I am glad that you did." I took a sip, and since we were into business now, I switched my thinking. "What did you have in mind... your colours, the type of flowers you would like, and how many?"

"The colour scheme is red and silver, so I was thinking perhaps red tulips and white irises? I need a bouquet for myself, and a smaller one for Soleil. I'd like the ribbons holding them together to be silver. Let's see... I'll need three big vases, one for the entrance hall and two for the front room... and perhaps six or so small vases to scatter around the rest of the house. I think trailing ivy would look very nice in the vases, or at least the larger ones." I paused then, and smiled. "Though obviously with such an early date in the growing season, I'm willing to be flexible. What are your thoughts?"

I made a mental note of everything she said, thinking up a rough estimate of numbers as I envisioned the arrangements.
"I am thinking about 80 of each," I said, closing my eyes as I counted in my mind, again, what she wanted. "Perhaps 90 to be on the safe side," I said opening my eyes, and smiling. "And that is a lovely colour scheme. Is there a reason behind it? Or the choice of flowers?"

"Red is Jareth's family colour, and silver to match the embellishments on my dress," I said with a smile. "Iris for inspiration and tulips for love. Plus I happen to think they look lovely together. And certainly order ninety of each, I don't want anything to go wrong."

I smiled at her reasoning behind it. It only made me want to do the best job possible for her. "Excellent," I said wtih a smile. "I will get everything lined up. You will not have to worry," I said with a smile. "Just two more questions.. what kind of red would you like, and when is the date?" I asked, wondering how much time I would have to get everything planned and together.

"We're having the wedding in the twelfth week of winter, I'm just finishing writing up the invitations," I said with a smile. "I hope three months gives you enough time. As for the red, I would love a cherry colour if possible."

"That is plenty of time," I said wtih a smile, "and cherry red is not a problem." I was excited, and I was sure that that excitement showed on my face. Perhaps this was something I should really do, not just for family, or the occassional fete. I normally sold my flowers at market, but making arrangements for for actual clients seemed like a good idea that I would have to look into.
"Have you chosen your gown as yet?" I asked her.

"Yes, though I've only seen sketches. I'm getting it made at the Maison de Fournie," I told her, smiling still. This whole event made me smile. "I can't wait to see Jareth's face when he sees me in it. It's going to be perfect."

Her smile was infectious and I could not help but to grin in response.
"I am sure he will find it breathtaking. You are very beautiful, cousin, though that goes without saying," I teased with a soft smile. Something about people in love made me happy, though I think the most of that was based on the fact that I was in love, myself.
"Do you have any of the sketches with you?" I asked her. "Perhaps I could find a way to mimic some detail of it in the binding for your bouquet, or for the vases?"

"No, I was afraid that I would leave it lying about and Jareth would see it. But I'll have the clothier send you a copy," I told her with another smile. "I'll also write my accountant, make sure you have the funds you need. Oh cousin, I'm so glad you're willing to do this for me."

I smiled at her ellation.
"I am more than just willing, cousin," I said with a warm smile, reaching forward to cup her hands with my own, "I am very happy and excited to do this, and very happy and excited for you. And yes, I would appreciate the copy. Any way that I can make this event more special for you, you must not hesitate to let me know," I let go of her hands and picked up my tea cup once more, taking a sip. "What else is family for."

"Touche," I said with a grin. "And yes, please. It is a nice blend," I commented, picking up my cup and holding it over my saucer for her to pour me a cup. "In fact, I was wondering if you might be able to ... answer a question for me, regarding a family member we both know."
