"It's my first big party, I seem to miss them a lot," I said, laughing softly. Probably because I spent too much time in the seedier parts of the City to know when events were occurring, but one would have to live under a rock not to know about the Masque.
His words brought to mind another person who would likely be there - Sarielle. That thought was sobering and my stomach twisted. Would we have reconciled by then? Or would we be as strangers, masked and moving through the crowd without even knowing each other?
I sighed then, trying to push back the melancholy that always threatened when I thought of her. "I wonder who else I know that will be there," I mused aloud. "Maric, probably, Balta wouldn't miss it..." I laughed and shook my head. "What am I saying, everyone will be there!"

I smiled as I watched her, so alight with excitement; I envied that jovial spirit. "I don't think Maric will be there, but I'm sure there will be lots of people to talk with." I replied as I took us down one hall leading to the stairs.

As I followed him down the hall, idly wondering why Maric would not be there, I noted that the bare wall along which we walked cried out desperately for some adornment. I had an eye for color and decor, and in my mind I was already sketching something that would look amazing hanging in the hall. What better housewarming gift?
"Perhaps we will even meet the Queen," I said, speculating on what that might be like. "Have you met her?"

I chuckled at little at the thought of meeting the Queen, it wasn't a desire of mine, but I suppose one could understand the interest of it to a girl like Naia. "No I haven't." I replied as I looked to her, I could see her own eyes looking about the house and I wondered what she thought about it. "Would you like to meet her?" I asked curiously.

I thought about that for a moment before responding. "I'm not sure, actually. On one hand, it seems like it would be thrilling, but on the other, it seems like it would be awkward. I mean, it's the Queen, what would we possibly talk about?"
I laughed and mimicked myself as if I were talking to her right then, "Oh Your Majesty, have you been to the Cockerel, isn't their ale the worst?" I shook my head and made a face. "I don't think I'm quite fit to hobnob with royalty!"
