I smiled at Naia, at least some one would be happy to see me stay. "Yes, it looks like I'll be staying after all." I replied. "You should be proud of that fact that its you who's convinced me to stay." I added, knowing that perhaps she might have a boost in confidence at the knowledge.

I smiled again, definitely happy he was staying, though I wasn't sure it was my doing. Perhaps he had just needed to talk it out in order to come to his decision. In that, it was obvious that we were alike, neither of us with many friends to speak of.
"I'm glad I could be of service," I said, grinning at him from across the table. "I am willing to bet that everyone who knows you will be glad to hear that you're staying." Including Sarielle, but that was something I would rather not think on, and so I pushed the thought away.

I chuckled and looked down at my plate for a moment before looking up at her again. "I hope your right." I said softly. "Either way, at least it means I'll be around a little while longer and you'll have some one to kick around, in me." I teased.

"Well, that's good to know," I said, laughing softly as I tucked my hair back. "And vice-versa, though I would appreciate if we could keep the kicking to a minimum." I smiled and rested my chin on the palm of my hand. "Though I can't really imagine you being the type to kick anyone around, literally or figuratively. And I mean that as a compliment." A Shahrizai might not take it as one, but to me the fact that he did not seem to share our family's wont to manipulate others was a good thing.

I chuckled as I looked at her. "I'll only kick you around if you ask me to." I said in a teasing fashion, hoping that the jest wouldn't take us to a place that was inappropriate.

I giggled at that, though why it struck me as funny I didn't know. I normally would have used that remark as an excuse to turn the conversation to another direction, but I was really enjoying this easy rapport between us and didn't want to spoil it.
"I'll keep that in mind the next time I need a swift kick." And perhaps that was just what I needed, sometimes.

I chuckled softly as I looked at her, smiling, any sort of tension was eased and she didn't attempt to flirt with me; it made me think that perhaps I could have a relationship with my family after all. "Thank, again." I said to her. "I think I needed this."

"Me too, actually, so thank you." I replied, smiling at him with more genuineness than I had felt in a while. Could this be the first time I left an encounter with my family without feeling sick and ashamed? I wondered again if Azriel could read my weaknesses with the same alacrity as the rest of my family; it always made me uncomfortable to know that someone else could see that side of me; to them I must look like a glass, shattered with cracks and lines going from one corner to the next.
I wanted to thank him for not using that ability, if he had it, to manipulate me or hurt me or use me for his own ends ... but I didn't know how to articulate the thought, so I didn't say anything, just smiled, wondering if after tonight I would actually have a true friend.

"You're welcome." I replied with a soft smile. "Perhaps we can do this again, may hap once a week we can get together for dinner, what do you think?"

"I think that's a great idea." I said, smiling widely. I found that I was oddly cheered by the idea of seeing Azriel on a regular basis. "Maybe one day you'll let me cook for you. I promise not to poison you." I was actually a decent cook ... well, of certain dishes, anyway. "I can cook at your house, since you never know who will show up at mine." I said, laughing softly. It was true, though, now that my cousins had moved in. You couldn't throw a cat without hitting one of us, it seemed.

I chuckled and nodded. "I think I'd like that very much, it would be nice to spend some time in the kitchen with someone. I'm not a very good cook myself but I always enjoy it when I get to watch and talk to whom ever is cooking." I said with a smile as I reached out and took up my glass, taking a drink of it as I looked at her before placing the glass down and swallowing.

"Maybe I can teach you something," I teased, tossing my hair back again. It had the irksome habit of falling forward whenever I got excited about something and the next thing I knew I was looking out through a veil of blue-black curls.

I chuckled at the thought of her teaching me something, some sort of cooking technique. "Oh?" I replied. "And what would you teach me, I'm an old dog after all. Haven't you heard, you can't teach old dogs new tricks." I teased.

All of the possible answers to that question ran through my mind at once, so that I could barely pick one out. I decided not to go the lascivious route; we were having such a nice visit, after all.
"I don't believe that for one moment," I said, shaking my head. "You'll see, next week I'll come over and teach you how to make my favorite dish. A trick guaranteed to impress the ladies."

I chuckled again. "Impressing the ladies is the least of my issues. I think I'll stay far away from them for the time being thank you very much." I replied as I smiled, leaning onto my elbows. "Are you finished your dinner?" I asked, pointing to her plate.

"Well, I know a few gentlemen who might also be suitably impressed," I teased, though I was a bit sad for him that his romantic prospects had become so bleak of late.
Looking down at the empty plate, I laughed and nodded. "I don't even remember eating that much!" I exclaimed, laying my fork down on the table. "That's how you know a good dinner companion - when you hardly notice the food."

I smiled at her comments, both at the one about impression a gentleman which I sloughed off as unimportant considering I had no interest in men, the second made me laugh though and I nodded. "Then I'm pleased to hear I'm a good dinner companion." I replied. "Did you at least enjoy it?

"I did," I said, smiling across the table at him. It was nice to have a dinner that I wasn't going to end up paying for one way or the other. As much as I liked being with a man, there was something to be said for having someone actually talk to me, and even more than that, to listen as if he really cared about what I had to say. If I wasn't careful, I could get used to that.
"It was quite spicy," I said, not pursuing that train of thought; I needed to learn to live in the moment and not borrow trouble. "But not so much so that I couldn't enjoy it. What about you, did you like it?"

"I did, though I think I liked the spice more then you." I teased with a chuckle. "So, desert then or shall we be off?" I asked curiously as I drank down the last of the wine in my glass.

I laughed softly, "Yes, I think you did!" When he asked about dessert, I shook my head, smiling wryly. "No, I couldn't eat another bite. Well, I probably could but unless I'm going to go for a run afterward, I really shouldn't."
Laying my napkin across my plate and finishing my drink, I smiled and added, "You could walk me home, if you like, however."

I chuckled but then nodded, reaching for my coin purse and pulled it out. "That sounds just fine by me, I wouldn't want to send you home with too much in your stomach." I teased as I laid coin out for our meal.
