"I agree," I said, just as the waiter came back with our dishes. "Perfect timing," I commented.

“Indeed,” I agreed with a smile, inhaling the scent of the food.

Picking up my knife and fork, I sliced a piece of meat off the breast of my guinea fowl and tasted it. "Mmm, delicious," I said.

I took a bite of my curry, enjoying the spicy burn and deep flavors. “This as well. The chef here really has a gift.”

I nodded. "I have never met him," I said, "but his staff shops at my shop." I pointed to her dish. "That curry was procured through me." I smiled with pride.

“Truly?” I asked. “It is exceptional. Where do you import it from?”

"South Bhodistan," I replied, after I'd swallowed another bite. "There are many rare and delicious spices that come from there. I stock as many as I can in my shop, but other times restaurant owners and chefs come to me when they want to order in bulk."

“I think I may have to come look through your wares,” I said, smiling. “My own cook loves trying knew and exotic spices. He would be delighted with new ones to create with.”

I nodded, taking another bite of my food. "So, Mirsada, will you tell me a little more about yourself?"

“Of course, what would you like to know?” I asked, stopping eating long enough to take a drink of wine.

I shrugged. "Where you grew up, what your family is like, how you got into business..." I trailed off. "Whatever you want to tell me so that I can be as straight and fair as possible to you."

“The shop I own now has actually been in my family for generations on my mother’s side. My father was an Illyrian trader who began to court my mother during one of his trips here to the City,” I told him between bites of food. “I grew up in the business and five years ago my parents turned the business over to me and moved to Illyria. I have been running the business since I was 20 though.” I looked across at him and smiled. “So be as fair as you like, I’ll know if it’s really fair or not.”

"How many years you have been running your business?" I asked. "I am 21 years old now, I've been running Shahrizai and Sons since I was 18."

"Ah," I said, nodding. "So you are a seasoned businesswoman indeed." I kept eating. The food really was incredible.

I chuckled and smiled at him. “You make me sound like I’m nearing the point I should start looking for a replacement,” I said.

"Well," I said. "My parents started the business before I was born. They died when I was a child, and I was raised in Kusheth by my grandparents. When I was 18, the business, which had been held in trust, was turned over to me, and ever since, I've been expanding upon what they built."
