“Is it?” I said, pretending to think. “I can’t rightly recall.”

"How could I help jog your memory?" I asked with a smile before kissing the underside of his chin.

"What about this?" I asked, kissing the corner of his mouth. "Or this?" I asked, my mouth moving to his ear and laying a kiss there as well.

“Oh yes, that’s done it,” I said softly. “It is with you. My mistake.” I was trying very hard not to let myself get too worked up.

I chuckled and grinned at the easy victory. "Have I mentioned yet that I love you?"

"Good. I wouldn't have it any other way," I whispered with a smile, and then kissed him properly, a hand going around his neck.

A low, happy sound rose from me as I returned her kiss, drawing her a little closer to me. I would never grow tired of the taste of her. There was nothing to compare it to, nothing as sweet or addictive.

I knew I shouldn't, I knew that I should be good, but my lips parted beneath his, inviting him in for more as I gave a happy moan.

Her lips parted and my body responded instantly before I could control it. I moaned deeply as my tongue slipped past her lips and caressed hers.

He took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, and I melted against his hard chest. Gods I had missed him... I kissed him back, stroking his neck.

I felt my restraint slipping and I scrambled to get it back, breaking the kiss and pressing my forehead to hers.
“Sorry,” I whispered. “I am trying to be good, I promise.”

I was grateful that he broke our kiss, for I didn't want to. He had always been the stronger one of us.
"I'm not helping, I know," I whispered in return, my hand falling from his neck. "I'm sorry too. I just wish we didn't have to be good."

Capturing her hand, I brought it to my lips and kissed her palm softly.
“I know,” I said, turning my head so that I could press my cheek to her hand. “I wish we didn’t have to be good as well, but there’s nothing we can do about it.” smiling, I looked at her through my lashes. “Just think how much better Midwinter will be for having had to wait.”

I smiled. "Almost want to skip the festivities, take you straight back to my room and show you exactly how much I love you," I whispered, gazing into his eyes as my forehead continued to rest against his.

"I'll think about it. Later, when I'm alone in my bed," I said with a secretive smile.
"But if I do that right now, I'll be trouble. So tell me a story. Please?" I asked as my forehead left his and instead tucked itself beck between his shoulder and neck.

Merciful gods, how was I supposed to think of anything else with the image of her alone in bed later filled my mind? I closed my eyes and took a deep if shaky breath, straining to keep my composure.
“What sort of story?” I asked.

It seemed even if I didn't think about it, I would be trouble. I didn't mean to tease him so, it just happened.
"Something your mother told you when you were little," I said with a soft voice, resolving to be as good as possible.

Shifting a little, I drew her across my lap and wrapped my arms more securely around her as I thought.
“Have you ever heard the story of the brown bunny and the farmer’s carrot patch?” I asked.

"No," I said, closing my eyes and just drinking in the feel of his arms around me and the rumble of his voice in his chest.

“Once there was this little brown bunny and he lived out in the countryside. He wasn’t much of a bunny, being small enough you could hold him in the palm of your hand. He was a happy bunny though for he lived in a hollow next to a carrot patch. He would spend his days warming himself in the sun and hopping through the wildflowers and slipping through a hole in the fence to nibble on carrots in the patch,” I said, my voice having grown a little softer and gentle. “The farmer tried to keep the bunny out of the patch, but the farmer’s wife thought the bunny was sweet and would remove the covers from the hole to let the bunny back in. the bunny didn’t eat all that much after all, he was just a little thing.”

“Yes, but he didn’t get any bigger, he was meant to stay little forever,” I said, smiling at her question. “So time went by and the bunny was very happy with his life. The farmer continued to try and keep the bunny out of his carrot patch and his wife continued to let the bunny in. One day though, the bunny went to his hole and found it blocked. He was confused but knew it would be open the next day. The next day though, the hole was still covered and the bunny began to worry that he would never be able to get back to the carrot patch. He hopped around the edge of the fence, looking for a new way in. his hopping took him all the way to the where the fence was attached to the house. There was a small hole there and he didn’t know if even he could fit through it. He was very hungry though so he tried and with a lot of wiggling he barely managed to get through. Once inside the fence he stopped, shocked and a little afraid by what he saw.”

Keegan was a good storyteller, and I began to get caught up in the tale. "What did he see?" I asked interestedly.

“The farmer, sitting on the back steps of the house. He was making terrible sounds and the little brown bunny grew more afraid. He was so hungry though. He thought maybe he could have just a few nibbles and then escape before the farmer saw him. Slowly he crept towards the nearest carrot, being as quiet as a little bunny could be. But right before he reached the carrot he heard a louder noise and looked up to see the farmer staring right at him,” I told her, my voice having developed a note of fear.

My breath caught, I couldn't help myself, as I waited in suspense for the story to continue.
