“No, I can’t imagine there is anything more beautiful or special here,” I said, my voice still soft.

"Then we'll make our way out," I replied, walking her toward the desk but slowly in case something else popped to mind. There was no rush today and I was more than willing to be leisurely.

I looked around as we headed towards the counter.
“Oh,” I said with a gasp. “Look at that!” there was a figurine on display that had to be a foot and a half long. It was a royal carriage being drawn by a full team of matched horses.

My brows went up a bit at the display. "That is amazing," I replied, leaning over to look at it a bit closer. "It must be a model based on a the Queen's carriage from her coronation or some other event.

“It’s exquisite,” I said, marveling at the detail. “I can’t imagine how long it took.”

"It would depend on how many different people worked on it," I replied, ducking my head slightly to look into the carriage window- within were even tiny seats. "But even so it probably took longer than we could imagine."

“I wonder if they started before her coronation and then finished it afterward?” I pondered. “Look at the horses, their manes look as if the wind is actually ruffling them. It is amazing.”

"I think your assessment is quite accurate," I agreed. "The entire carriage could have been worked before the Coronation itself and the horses after."

“True,” I agreed, straightening up from my inspection. “I wonder why the Queen hasn’t purchased it herself.”

"The Queen is probably just busy with other things- or has her own artisans," I offered.

"Besides, no one seems to notice these out of the way places," I added. "More's the pity."

“I’m going to send the Queen a letter telling her about this,” I said, nodding my head decisively.

"She gets a great deal of letters- but I think it's a good idea," I said encouragingly.

"you know the Queen?" I asked interestedly. "From while you were at Gentian?"

“Yes,” I said, nodding. “I had a dream about something and Octavier sent word to her. We met another time after that as well.”

"She was a patron of yours?" I asked, thinking back. "Before I met you?"

"Sort of, though not in the traditional sense," I said, trying to think how to explain it. "But it might be enough to get her to read my letter."

"That's a big ability to have, that the Queen would read your letters," I replied cautiously. "I'm surprised she didn't take you on after you were released by the Stregazzas."

I shrugged. “I doubt she knows I was released, or that I even left Gentian,” I said. “It’s been awhile since I spoke to her. But I can always hope that perhaps she remembers me.”

"You are biased," I teased, smiling at him.

For a moment I thought and then smiled at her brightly. "I wouldn't mind having a set of pretty glasses for us.."
