Arriving in a Strange Place

[Maric du Verais]

I nodded, smiling still but making my face a little more serious, only the corner of my mouth curled very gently, and mostly teasing.
"Ah yes, very good answer." I said with a gentle chuckle.

[Lillianne Prévost]

"Besides, a lady should not fritter away her money like that. We'll leave that job to the men," I teased in mock retaliation for his jest.

[Azriel Shahrizai]

I smiled softly, still keeping my piece as I sipped my wine. At least they were getting along.

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled softly, nodding a little at her teasing.
"And we do it well don't we." I said smiling to Azriel and then looking back to Lilli.

[Lillianne Prévost]

"You do if you have the same skill at gambling as I do," I said with a giggle.

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled softly.
"I am a poor gambler," I said smiling. "So I do my best to be cautious in my gambling. That and my father would throw a fit if he knew thats what I was spending my allowance on."

[Lillianne Prévost]

"It's alright, I won't tell on you," I told him with a grin. "What about you Uncle Azriel? Going to get Maric into trouble."

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled softly and glanced to Azriel, waiting for a response and curious what sort of response it would be. He was an awfully quiet man.

[Azriel Shahrizai]

I smiled softly at Lilli's attempt to include me in the conversation.
"No, I think I'll leave you to get him into trouble, if not in this area, mayhap another." I teased her, giving her a wink and still baring my soft smile as I sipped my wine.

[Lillianne Prévost]

His words caused me to blush and look down at my glass of wine. "Uncle," I protested. "I already told Maric that I don't get into trouble."

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled softly, pleased at his response and enjoying the soft blush on Lilli's cheeks. She was attractive when she blushed, and she reminded me of Sophine, coy and brillant.
"I think your uncle knows you better then you'd like." I teased.

[Azriel Shahrizai]

I raised a brow to Lilli, keeping a soft smile as I looked at her.
"I think my niece has not had much chance to enjoy her youth. Something I hope having some one her own age around might help to remedy."

[Maric du Verais]

I sobered a little, bowing my body at little, my hand on my chest.
"I'll do my best." I said softly to him before turning my gaze on Lilli. "That is of course if you wish to join me in my misadventures." I added with a teasing smile.

[Lillianne Prévost]

I suddenly felt at the center of attention, uncomfortably so. It was enough for my uncle to imply that something might happen between Maric and I, it was quite another to tell me that I wasn't experiencing the right things.

"Perhaps one or two," I said with a smile, but I shifted uncomfortably.

[Maric du Verais]

I could have been wrong but she seemed uncomfortable and I decided to try to move things away from the previous conversation.
"Do you read Lilli?" It was pretty obvious that she did, I mean thats the kind of girl she looked like.

[Lillianne Prévost]

"Yes I do," I replied, grateful that the conversation seemed to be moving on. "Though I haven't found a really good book in the last couple of weeks."

[Azriel Shahrizai]

I noticed the change in Lilli and wasn't sure where it came from, but I watched, storing it away from later to ask her.

[Maric du Verais]

I nodded.
"Perhaps we could look at some of the book shops together. I'm not a particularly strong reader, but I do enjoy it."

[Lillianne Prévost]

"Of course, there is a particularly fine shop in the artisan's district. I usually have luck there. There's also the library up at the palace, which is another place I would be happy to show you around," I said, a smile coming easier.

[Maric du Verais]

I nodded.
"I'd like that very much." I said smiling softly. "The City is quite the place to be, I've never seen anything like it."

[Lillianne Prévost]

"And you just arrived," I pointed out with a smile. "There is quite a lot to see."

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled and nodded, taking a sip of wine.
"That's true." I said softly. "I'm excited to see all the things that are here to see."

[Lillianne Prévost]

"Do you have any suggestions for what he should see while he's here uncle?" I asked Azriel, who was trying very hard to fade into the background. He did that a lot.

[Maric du Verais]

I looked at Azriel and wondered at what he had to say.

[Azriel Shahrizai]

I knitted my brows gently and thought.
"You should go to the Temple District." I said nodding a little. "See each of the temples, they're beautiful." I thought a little more.
"And the Artists District, they have some gallerys with wonderful art."

[Lillianne Prévost]

I smiled at his suggestions. "I don't think I've been to all the temples myself. And definitely the Artisan's District. Think you could handle those things Maric?" I asked him with a teasing grin.

[Maric du Verais]

I chuckled as I looked back to her.
"I think I can manage." I teased back. "I'd very much like to go to Kushiel's Temple." I added looking to Azriel.
"Have you every been?"

[Azriel Shahrizai]

The question caught me off guard. Gods no! Was the answer that immediately sprung to mind, but then I thought about the things that had happened in the last few weeks and shook my head.
"I have not." I said softly, thinking that I was almost interested in going myself. "Not even the one in Kusheth."

[Maric du Verais]

I nodded, his answer made me wonder if there was something else there but I shrugged it off.
"You should come with us then, I'm interested to see the differences between the one here and in Kusheth." I said looking to Lilli to see what she thought.

[Lillianne Prévost]

I smiled when Maric glanced at me, and looked to my uncle to see what he would say. He was uncomfortable, but I knew that Maric wanted an answer from Azriel's lips.
