I swallowed hard as he stepped closer again. My eyes darted to the left and then the right before I met his blue gaze. "I wasn't trying to welch. I was just curious."
The way he called me pet made me nervous. I wanted to push him away, because I couldn't weigh my options with his oppressive presence so close. Betting wasn't a thing I did very often, or at all, and I didn't think he would be able to poison my name in every circle. Though money was important, I enjoyed playing the games most of all. And that I could do for free. I didn't think that lying would help me in the first place.
"Sandrine nó Orchis," I said, bowing slightly, my nails digging into my palms. "Who do I have the pleasure of addressing?"

I executed a bow “Gadleon Shahrizai at your service” I raised up and then reached out and lifted her chin with the very tip of my index finger. I starred down into her chocolate eyes and asked in mild tones “So what shall it be Sandrine?” I let my thumb tip brush her full lips before removing my hand “In debt to me or the loss of your honor? It appears fate has let it fall to you to choose your own doom since you were so unwise as to be caught cheating a Skaldi at dice.”

I closed my eyes as he touched me. Gods above, he felt like fire across my lips, and I whimpered slightly at his closeness, cursing myself as it happened.
I was surprised that he was giving me a choice. It was like deciding between a switch and a lash for punishment--both terrible. I couldn't look him in the face as I thought.
"If...if you were to tell the whole of the City of Elua," I murmured, stammering slightly in my nervousness, "then it might get back to my Dowayne. I...I don't need to be in any more trouble with her. And while I do enjoy gambling, I don't play for money. It would still make people reluctant to let me roll the dice with them--or any other game, for that matter." I sighed deeply. "But...if I am indebted to you..." A thousand scenarios flashed through my head, a few of which were deeply sensual in nature. I shuddered. "...I do not know how long my wait will last, nor the service I will be asked to provide..."
He could forget. He could find someone else to do whatever it was he might need. He might think that his teasing was enough. And the law would protect me from bodily harm. I might be able to get out of this yet.
Anything could happen.
"I will stay in your debt, Gadleon Shahrizai," I said, looking up to meet his eyes.

“Very well then” I said softly. I leaned in and whispered in her ear letting my breath caress “you might even find that you like it.” I leaned back then and gave her some space all the while studying her lines. I was greatly enjoying this little game of cat and mouse and yes I was pretty certain she was learning something from it. Though it was time to let her rest and reflect if she so chose “I reckon we are finished for now then unless you have something else you would like to address.”

I steeled myself as he whispered in my ear. It took everything I had not to bolt away from him when he told me we were finished.
"No...nothing for now." Something about him made me stand and wait for him to truly dismiss me. He had a very commanding presence, and I didn't want to turn my back on him.

And with that I simply pivoted on my heel and strode away toward home.

I looked up as I heard his footfalls, watching him walk away. It was a few seconds before I squared my shoulders and walked out of the square.
Really, I had nothing to worry about. He was obviously a very important man, and so I was sure he would forget about a insignificant person like me.
Wouldn't he?
Despite the warmth of the day, I shivered as I climbed the steps to Mont Nuit, holding my dice tightly in my hands.
