After the debacle that had happened at the faire, I wasn't sure if Theodule would still be interested in getting drinks with me. He was nice, and handsome, and thankfully in the end we did go, somehow ending up at the Medecant's Cloak.
I smiled at him just before we walked in. "Have you ever been here before?" I asked, curious.

“No,” I said, shaking my head as I looked around, taking in all the bustle. “It’s very jovial in here, isn’t it?”

I smiled and nodded a little, glancing back up at him. "Is it too much? We could find a quieter place if you'd like."

“Oh no,” I said, looking at her and smiling. “I like it. Where shall we sit?”

"Anywhere you would like," I said, smiling, hopeful to make him comfortable. "I usually take a table over there, but we could go anywhere."

“Over there is just fine,” I assured her, smiling. “Lead the way, I bow to your experience.”

I blushed lightly and led him in, twisting slightly to slip between tables and people as the crowds continually shifted. Occassionaly there would be a shouted friendly greeting that I would wave in return, my blush climbing a little higher as I looked back at Theodule with a large smile. "They're loud, but nice in here," I explained when we reached the table, my fingers moving to smooth my slightly rumpled skirts.

“It’s nice, really,” I said. “It’s a different feel than say the feast. It almost feels like a big family.”

I nodded, feeling more comfortable and relaxed the longer we were here. More like myself, and not someone I wanted to be, but wasn't. "It's a lot like that," I said as I took a seat, my posture still straight and my eyes holding a touch of shyness regardless, but even that was quickly fading. "I've been coming here since I was a little girl on my da's shoulders... they're good people here."

I smiled wide. “I can feel that,” I said, nodding. “What do you recommend to drink?”

"Ale," I said, smiling with a little nod, noticing someone coming towards our table as I spoke.

“Sounds perfect,” I said. The server came and I ordered us two ales before looking back at Myth. “Thank you for showing me this place, it’s wonderful.”

"You're more than welcome," I said, looking at him with a relaxed, happy expression. "I'm glad you like it."

I smiled and focused my attention on her. “I’m also glad we worked things out and didn’t both flee to our homes.”

"I'm glad too," I said, smiling back at him. "I almost didn't go, but I'm glad I did." Oh Elua, it was out before I thought. My blush crept back and I clasped my hands in my lap, trying to think of something else to say to cover it out. "Do you go to public functions often?"

“Not as much as I should probably,” I said, chuckling. “I really am more of a homebody.” I smiled at her. “I am glad we both went to the feast though. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here right now.”

I nodded my agreement. "I stay at home a lot too, but when I go out I like to come here, or to the Generous Patron. More.. relaxed places." I smiled softly at him as we both waited for the ale to arrive. "What do you like to do for fun, Theodule?"

“Most of my time is taken up by business, truthfully. With the time I do have, I like to read and go to the theater of late. Perhaps I will have to come see you perform,” I said, smiling.

I smiled a little more, thankful that my blush didn't come back. "I would like that, though I'm afraid my parts are always small," I said, a little self conscious.

“That wouldn’t matter; I’d enjoy seeing you perform. I hope next time you have a part you’ll let me know so I can come and marvel at your courage for being on stage,” I said, smiling.

I couldn't help but flush a little with pleasure at his words. "I will be sure to send a note," I said, thinking I could beg one of my younger brothers into delivering a note for me to Theodules townhome; surely he did not live in an apartment community like I did. "What all do you like to do, when you're not reading?"

She’d asked me that question several times now since we’d met. I wondered if I was boring her.
“I try and spend time outside, go to the theater, and perhaps explore a little more of the city,” I said.

I nodded, listening thoughtfully. "You didn't grow up here, then, in the City?"

“No, my family’s estate and business is in Eisande and until my parents died I had spent nearly my entire life there,” I said. “Are you from the City originally?”

"Oh," I said, my lips parting a little at the mention of his parents death. I wasn't sure whether I should comment on it, if it was proper to or if I should let it go. I caught my lower lip between my teeth as I looked at the table between us, then back at him, my head tilted downward slightly. "I'm sorry to hear about your parents," I said quietly before moving on, answering his question to take the focus off his family in the case he was uncomfortable talking about it. "I'm from the City, yes... born and raised here in the Nights Doorstep," I added with a small smile.

I was grateful she didn’t linger on my parent’s death, I had been hoping to keep the conversation moving with asking about her. I didn’t want to get sad in the company of such a lovely woman.
“Have you ever traveled outside the City?”

"No," I said honestly, though I disliked admitting it. "I've always wanted to, but I've never been any further than it takes to walk for a picnic."
I knew I must sound what I was; poor, but I didn't try hiding anything about myself. Theodule didn't seem like other nobles I'd met -and worked for. He was warm, interesting, and actually cared about what I said. I felt a sort of kinship with him, a connection I was trying to understand.

“I can understand that,” I said, smiling softly. “I think that if just left to my own devices I might be the same way, never leave the estate back home. I know there are people who have dreams of traveling to distant places, but when I’m away from where I love I just miss it.”

I listened, nodding a little when he finished speaking. "I can understand that," I said after a moment. "I know I'd miss my parents if I ever traveled... but to be able to go other places, and see the sea," I finished, my voice holding a tone of breathless excitement in it. "I'd love to see them, even if just once, and see if they're anything like the painting that's in the Cockeral."

“I’ve never seen that painting, but I have seen the sea, it’s magnificent. There are really no words to adequately explain it,” I said, smiling.
